Craven speed license plate holder
I purchased a license plate holder that mounts on the tow point of my X5. When I mounted it, it was tight against the bumper on the fastening end. I wonder if others have had this problem? It is a 2016 X5.

I have the US Mill Works one. It sits close to the bumper, but not against it. It'll take a picture of what mine looks like...

Do they write tickets for that kind of stuff where you life? Here in Texas its the law but in all these years I have not received a ticket for any of my vehicles - for not having a front plate...

Same here.. Its the law in NJ/NY and for the past 20+ years living here I've never had front plates on my cars without any issues... Until about 4 months ago I got pulled over at night for no front plates.. and my excuse was that I had replaced my front bumper from a recent fender bender and was waiting on a bracket from the dealer. He let me off with a warning, but I continue to have no front plates.

Thanks for the replies guys. Yes, unfortunately Virginia is hard nosed about their front plate law. But I'm not drilling holes in my front fascia. I contacted Craven Speed, sent a picture showing how the plate touches the fascia. They're sending a longer threaded stud that should fix the problem.

$13 on eBay...why do people pay so much for something so simple?
This is an angel eys upgrade pic but since this site can't compress pics on its own, this is the best I can do. Works perfectly, hasn't budged and I bought a second on to stay within the law while not blocking the intercooler on my boosted E36.

On the topic of license plate holders, I really liked the quick release option with the US Mill Works one. Even for something so simple, it just screamed quality to me. |

Angel eyes isn't really a good analogy as there are differences in bulb, brightness, durability, build quality, longevity, etc vs a cast metal screw connected to a stamped plate of metal to hold yet another stamped plate of metal.
To each their own...once adjusted, mine looks fine and I hasn't been in my hands since the day of installation. |

Here in Vancouver, it seems to really depend on the areas you drive, and also what you drive. Downtown is definitely "heaty", but again can depend on the vehicle you drive. I don't run a front plate on my X5, A4, or on the 1'er. I'll go through road checks, etc... and other than some casual mentions from the officers, I've been left alone. A good friend of mine has a black M4, nicely modified...was running a tow hook plate, took it off for a show and didn't put it back on, he rec'd two tickets in the span of a month. Bad luck, maybe.
