If the M4 and M2 were released at the same time...
Which vehicle do you think would sell better?
I think a lot of the hype surrounding the M2 is because it's the shiny new toy. It's missing A LOT of features (S55, CFRP bits, interior quality/exterior styling, mirrors... ). Even with the price difference, if both were released at the same time I would choose the M4. More comfortable as a DD, looks more refined and probably will outperform the M2 on almost any track with a decent straight or high speed turns. I feel it's simply the more versatile vehicle of the two. Same day, same time release. What would you choose?

Ha ha, that doesn't count. M3 is a different type of vehicle.

M3.
M2?! Nice car, but I would have regrets not going for the bigger and better brother. The smaller size is the only thing going for the M2. It doesn't feel special IMO.

If they both were available and I was looking for the 2 door then I wouldn't buy one before test driving both. On looks and paper alone M4 without a doubt

is your car lowered here?
if i could get same incentives and everything applied, i might go for m2.. at 27 years old i should be saving some money, so i'd try to pocket the extra 150 or so a month. i would never pay full MSRP for m2, when i could get discounted m3 though. |

as a 4dr, F80 is always going to be welcome in my garage, at the very least as a fast commuter/daily driver M4/M2 kind of cars never really did it for me. I like the E86 Z4M style of car better. if it is going to be a 2 door car, might as well be a 2 seater sports car |

M2 suits me more than the M4.

the picture in my sig? nope, stock suspension in that picture.
in that case if we are strictly discussing coupes, then it would depend on my age. had it been a few years ago and i was young and single, I would have probably gone for the M2. It's cheaper at a more accessible price point. Being older, if I needed a second vehicle, the M4 would be my pick.

M4 of course, it is "thee" quintessential M car. The M2 is nice, but is small and would serve me better as a second car, but then so would a Cayman although it's dramatically more money.
My M3 was my first M car if I would have bought an M2, I somehow would have felt something missing, M2 needs to get it's M cred up to standards. |

For a sportscar, I rather have a Boxster/Cayman or other purer 2-seat sportscar. As a sedan, the M3 is brilliant. And to the extent the sedan basically gives up nothing in performance to the coupe, I do not understand why I would pick the M4 over the M3. |

I borderline liked the M235i more than the M4 when I drove them back to back, so that's gotta count for something
I look forward to trying out an M3/4 with CP though!

No idea which would sell better, but I'd take the M4 any day of the week

If I was looking to get a smaller, cheaper, better drivers car, I'm not sure I'd pick the M2 period. That is getting to be a crowded segment and there are a lot of great cars in the 35k-55k range. I'd have to drive a lot of different cars and see what I liked best. |

I really can't think of anything else I'd want in the 35k-55k that's not an M2 to be completely honest. But because I've already got 2 coupes, the price of an M2 is MSRP at best (and the leases are HORRID) as well as 2er LCI only a year out, I just think the M3 is a better call for me
