How to confirm 1200mi service was performed?

Hello,

So I have a specific situation where I have a 2015 US M4 that was imported to EU with 6.000 miles. I was at the dealer in Germany for a service and he said that in order to still have warranty on my car I need to provide conformation that the first 1.20pmile service was done at a bmw dealer and that he can not see outside Europe what was done.

So somehow we got that the car was sold by BMW delaer nr. 21850 in the US and is there any way to find out which dealer was that so I can call him and maybe get a conformation of first service.

Thank you very much.

I may be wrong, but no way would I let my dealer tell me my warranty was void for that reason.

I agree with you fully. But they keep on insisting that yhere is warranty void if they cant see the first 1.200mile service was done.

It is trully a pain in the a** to deal with things like that but it is a HUGE deal to me to keep my warranty.

Someone on this forum should be able to look up the service history using your VIN#. You can pm it to that person and they can get you the key read. Print that and show it to the dealer. I agree it may not be an official document but the way it is written might convince the dealer that it is the actual history.

I suggest you change the title of this thread to "Can someone please look up my service history using the VIN#"? And then edit your original post to explain that you need a key read to show to your dealer in Croatia.

Yeah, my bad. I saw Croatia and the EU comment and totally missed that it was a US car. This car has spent more time on a boat than on the road.

Does the 1200mile service not show up in the vehicle history via the iDrive?

No it didnt, there was no Service History available in the menu. I belive it is due to some reprogamming necessary in order to get it registred in germany.

Anyway a forum member helped me out big time and now I can see the exact time and date where the first 1.200 miles was done and the second service 1 year later on 5.000 miles was also done.

The car sure did spend quite the time on a boat back and forth

I dont know why, is it maybe from older BMW or something but here in Europe there seems to be a certain dose of doubt whenever the car is imported from the US.

I personally dont see any differences and I just bought the car because it is FULLY loaded exept ceramic brakes and had just 6.000 miles on with new like condition. Didnt really care it was from the US.

OP - glad you got it sorted out!

Now I have a new question: Is there a 5,000 mile schedule service? My car is about 7 months old and has 4,700 miles. When the car "boots up" it says the next service is 6,000 miles away...

I think its either 1 year or a certain amount of miles, which ever comes first.

It's 1 year. I got my car in March of 2015, had my 1,200 mile service in May 2015. In February of 2016 I was getting a warning that an oil change service was due, even though I had only driven another 3,000 miles. My SA said "Yup, 1 year." He said, "Don't ask. It's a strange algorithm." Free oil change... I'm like. "Okay."

That's correct. You're allowed to get an annual oil change if you drive low miles per year. You're allowed one set of wipers per year too, just tell your SA "my wipers are streaky"

Not 100% yet, but they said if I provide them with proof that 1.200 mile service was than it would be ok. I also requested to buy additional 2 year warranty for my car.

So I will have an answer from them in the nex few days if they dont make up something
