ZCP Owners -- Would You Choose This Package Again?
I still have a couple of weeks left before I need to finalize the specs on my 2017 M3...still on the fence with ZCP. Wheels are growing on me, like the seats, exhaust, etc...but just wondering if it is really worth the $$. Once the "honeymoon" phase for your ZCP cars was over, would you order this option again if you had to do it all over again? Very interested to hear your perspective.

I've only just taken Euro delivery, but for 5k? Absolutely.
Loved the seats, didnt have to buy the black grills etc, love the rims in person. Exhaust sounds wonderful and it felt better damped than my old F80. 110%.

Off topic, but I'm actually considering adding either a 991.1 C2S or F80CP. I know they are completely different cars obviously, and serve different purposes, but any chance you can compare the two?

Would you do it for 10k?
Because that's how much it is in Switzerland, and a base price of 91k. So I had to draw the line somewhere, and I couldn't convince myself that it was worth that much. |

I would absolutely. The wheels are amazing and give the car a very aggressive look. The exhaust sounds awesome and I love the burbles from the tune. The seatbelts are a nice touch. And finally, I find the seats far more comfortable/supportive than the original ones (I had a '15 M4 before).

Really? The more i look at those wheels the more pathetic it looks and does not come close to the 19" black ones i have ... i would not pay that price for the wheels only ....but everyone is entitled to their opinion

Well, I don't have my ZCP M3 back from ED yet, so I'm too early, but...
I doubt you'll have buyer's remorse if you buy the ZCP, but just make sure you don't have buyer's remorse if you don't...The last thing you want in your brand-new M car is to see a ZCP F8X and feel a twinge of jealousy/regret ... The cosmetics are fairly straight forward - you like them or you don't (assuming you've seen the wheels in person). The extra power is a non-issue for most. The difficulty is really knowing what BMW M did to the chassis and diff and how it affects the handling and traction of the car. And then not knowing for sure which "improvements" from the ZCP are being incorporated into all F8Xs and which are not, and whether retrofits will be available for non-ZCP cars, etc. Such secrecy! I think the only real way to evaluate the non-cosmetic aspects of the ZCP would be a fairly extensive test drive under the same conditions that YOU are going to drive the car in - be it smooth roads, poorly maintained roads, the track or a combination. This might be possible if you live in an area in which the cars are more common - a few enthusiasts might be willing to help you out. That said, for me personally, the ZCP was a sound choice and I have to say that I love the overall appearance of the package. GL - you really can't make a bad decision, so just be confident in the decision you do make!

I should have my ZCP in a few days. But to answer the OP's question it depends how much and what comes with it. I had initially ordered a non ZCP + 19 in wheels + adaptive suspension and planned to buy the MPE. I looked at the math and it did not make sense to me. I ditched the original build and went with ZCP. This eliminated the need to buy MPE. 19 in wheels + adaptive suspension + MPE would have been around $7k. ZCP at invoice price is just above $5k. Other features that come with ZCP are bonus to me.

I opted for the ZCP and I'd have 0 hesitations on getting it again. This is not a bias'ed review either.
The seats alone did it for me, the larger bolsters, and the aesthetics are gorgeous, including the ///M stripe on the seat beats. The ///M Sports exhaust is perfect, not too obnoxious but loud enough to know you got something there on cold starts in the morning. Of course I'm planning on the MPE because I'm that obnoxious exhaust guy, otherwise, the factory ZCP unit is really, quite perfect. Personally I love the wheels. I started becoming more conscious of them when I started reading the forums and how much disdain there was when the ZCP was announced. I thought they wouldn't look as good but when I picked up my M, worth it! In person they are gorgeous and worth every penny. The majority of the questions I get about the car are about the wheels. It's always questions about the wheels, always. |

2016 M3
Mineral Grey Exterior SO Interior ZCP ZCP is 100% worth the $$ on this car! I don't agree with most regarding the vast hatred towards the 666 wheels. I think the wheels are incredible and they compliment the car nicely. Exhaust is satisfying for most but my E92 had a Remus Race system so this ZCP sounds tame in comparison. I plan on an exhaust upgrade soon. When I look at the non ZCP M3 I am very glad that I busted my ass finding one of the last 2016 ZCP's laying around and picked it up! |

I'll play devil's advocate here. I got my M4 before ZCP was out. I was seriously considering trading it in to get a car with ZCP (and also, I really regretted not getting full leather, so that was like 50% of my motivation). But then I started thinking what I really like about ZCP. To me, the seats are not as comfortable, from the lack of lumbar support. I disliked the wheels at first, now they're just meh; I wouldn't be happy to pay extra for them. I like the chassis/suspension tweaks, and the engine 'tuning'. At this point, I'd rather get coilovers and a tune (for the burbles) than trade my car in to get a ZCP equipped car. So I think it depends on what you like about the ZCP. If you like the seats and the wheels, I'd say it's a no brainer. Tick the box

A tick over 4,000 miles on mine so far. I had a 15 for a bit over 17,000 miles.
In the last week I've driven ONLY with all the nannys off... This car is way more controllable and predictable then my last one. This has become the biggest difference to me. 1) Seat belts..nice touch, but who's staring at your seat belts while driving? 2) Wheels, I loved them from day 1.. I'm talking Jan when I ordered the car just from the photos. 3) Ride difference, everyone says firmer... Eh' I'm just a regular Joe... Feels the same to me. 4) Seats, without a doubt more comfortable. (Never used lumbar anyway). 5) Sounds... No question 6) Power... Whatever.. No one can feel 19hp when you're working with these high numbers to begin with. 7) Car just flat out hooks up better... Way better. Just my $.02 |
