Should Buy this M3?
Hi,
I just sold my 06 E46 M3, and bought E350 as a daily. E350 is exceptionally great car, smooth ride and sleek look overall. But after a month of driving this car I kinda miss my M3 as a daily. So I'm back in a market for E92 M3 and I found this 2012 M3 with Comp pkg but No Nav, DCT, white on black with 36000 miles. The dealer neg price down to 38700 maybe down to 38000. Warranty is out so its on me. Should I buy this M3 or not. All service history is good upto date and 1 owner. What do you guys think?? any input will be appreciated. |

2012's haven't hit solid depreciation yet. Considering you can get a model a few years older for ~10k less you are pretty much asking for a big hit.
If you are okay with this, and the possibility of a rod bearing failure which is $15k-$25k out of pocket if you have no extended warranty... then this is the car for you

Dont know what kind of M3's 335m is talking about for $10k less but any E92 less than $30k is going to be a beater IMO after searching for E92s for nearly a year.

That is a pretty good price for a 2012 e92 with 36000 miles (here in California anyway). I would have loved to get an e92, but I need 4 doors. So I got a 2011.5 e90. I think I paid a bit of a premium because it is a 6spd (after being on this forum, i kinda wish i would have gotten a dct..so much quicker, anybody want to trade?). I bought it last October for $38000; clean title, 36500 miles on it. It does have nav and (ugh) a moon roof. I bought an aftermarket service warranty with it. Bmw does sell aftermarket warranties, you should talk to your bmw dealer about adding a warranty. It will be at least $2600, but I think it's worth the peace of mind. Mine was $3600, with coverage up to 80k miles or until 2021. But any kind of engine mod will negate it unfortunately.

No, I searched for nearly a year for that car and by luck, my fiance found it on cars.com. Auto trader also some decent deals. I had to drive 4 hrs to look at it. I do love the car however. And the 4 doors are quite convenient. I think the forum has some decent deals as well. Check those out if you haven't already.
