Anyone think their car is too dark inside with Black interior?
I've been going back and forth, but finally decided on SO exterior with CF roof and black wheels, and a full black leather interior. I was thinking of going with Individual Golden Brown, which I think is a really cool color. But in the end my thinking is that, with a brighter color like SO, better to keep the interior subtle and not have too much going on. I've also had 7 other cars with black interiors, and I like the way they stay clean and the way they look.
Two questions for those with black interiors (esp full): - Since this car has an anthracite headliner (which I really like) and no sunroof, is it *too dark* inside with black leather? - Any issue in the rain, etc, with the leather on top of the doors and dash? I'd assume that, since it's a car, they test and treat the leather so it should hold up fine in the sun and a bit of rain, as long as it doesn't get soaked. Thanks! |

My M4 is SO with full black, but I have a moonroof which helps lighten the interior. I love the black and think it would be fine, even without the moonroof. I am prejudiced, but think it is a great choice.

I have full black and love it. No issue at all with being to dark. The white stitching compliments it well with my AW exterior. I like SO but think black will wear better over time. We also went black in our X5 and it's far from to dark even with the roof closed up. Really don't think you can go wrong.

I have SO/SO with CF roof but also looked at SO/Black and would be happy with either. I wouldn't hesitate to go with black interior. I just happened to get a better deal from the dealer with the SO/SO.

I don't think any of the brown interiors go well with SO.
I'd stick with black - it will look great! |

I had black extended leather in my last F80. The leather quality is great but I did think it was too dark at times. With the carbon fiber trim everything inside the car was dark, so in my new 2017 F80 order I switched it to silverstone to brighten up the interior. If you stay with black leather, you can consider going with the aluminum blade trim to provide some contrast.

I have SO with Full Black Merino Leather, CF roof, and 35% tint all around. I don't think it's too dark, but it's pretty bright and sunny most of the time here in San Diego. I'm probably used to it also because it's pretty similar inside to my wife's '11 335is Coupe with Black Dakota Interior, moonroof (tinted) and 40% tint all around.
Both interiors are a lot darker than my Z4 M Roadster with the top down though! (Unless it's nighttime!)

I love black interiors and that's what my cars had up until my M4.
I had the same debate you had and wanted to keep the CF roof. In any case, I decided to go to the extreme opposite and ordered BSM with the SS interior and couldn't be happier. The light color of the seats and parts of the dash do help to make the interior brighter. |

I like black interiors, and my E92 M3 (extended leather) and AH3 were both all black inside. Honestly it grew tiresome for me over the years. I went with Sakhir Orange full leather for my F80 and still very much love it.

It would probably look a lot like an orange Creamsicle!

I think the black interior would be fine and not a bad choice, I would just fear that it gets boring quickly. I have black leather interiors for my Jeep GC and a Z71 Tahoe, and while very nice I'm glad I did not do the same on my F80. I have SO (interior) and feel it brings the interior to life for an otherwise simple design. Adds to the character of the car.

I've had lighter color leathers and always come back to black. Goes well with every color; easy to maintain (less likely to stain or show wear).
