Temp fully warmed up
My 2011 after fully warmed up on the highway or in traffic runs about 220 degrees F during the warmer months. It doesn't get any hotter than that Is this higher than normal?

Mine typically doesn't go above 210 unless I have driven very hard, and I'm in South Florida. It's a bit warm, but probably nothing to be concerned about if the temps hold steady.

Badbeef, what about if you step on it a bit, or in stop and go traffic, still stays stable at 220 or increase further?
Mine stays flat half needle below 100C (ie 210) on highway regardless of for how long I drive. However during hot Days down Town or if I give it some I've seen 240F. |

yes, when it's over 90F ambient I typically run around 215-220F on the highway. 70F ambient this morning and I would hit 210F at a redlight, and 190 or so when moving.

Believe you, after this Summer for a change being good I've come to realize how much the outside temp affect the Engine/oil temp. Soon as coming above 23-24C it starts to climb. Initial reaction I got a bit spooked but its coming down soon as the temp drops from there.

Yes, that is the normal oil temperature +/- 5%. The thermostat will regulate it -- temps should stay right around that almost regardless of the ambient temperature. Oil temps will climb during sustained WOT periods, such as track time. I was at the track on Sunday night and by the end of the session the oil temps were holding steady at about 260 F, but we're talking about 20 minutes of WOT, not 10 seconds for an on-ramp.

Mine's also usually right at the halfway mark (210F) when driving normal in Miami. But one pull to redline in just one gear and its past the halfway mark to around 220+. Doesn't take much to make mine go up, especially not flogging it. The fact that my temp goes up so quickly from just a burst of WOT has kinda always had me nervous.

That gauge is only an approximation and it will fluctuate a tiny bit during normal use.

This is what my oil temp usually reads out as, although this is maybe a slight bit higher. Was pretty hot around this time, though.
I initially thought this was too high, but I haven't had any problems. I recently noticed my father's E63 M6 runs about these temps as well, so I wouldn't stress about it.

That is definitely above normal. Were you really pushing it for a long period of time or something? Or was the car being driven in stop-and-go traffic with very high ambient temps? I've only seen the needle move that far when I was on the track. It has NEVER gone there on the street, even when the outside temps are over 100, I'm running AC, and sitting still in traffic.

If you bring it to the dealer, they will have a field day. They will recommend you to change the HID/xenon fluid in your headlights. Or the air in your airbags. lol.
kidding aside, all totally normal. go and drive it harder if you want the temp to go up.
