So I hit a raccoon at 150km/h...

Was on the highway at night. The damage is pretty bad Impact was on the driver side front. Destroyed the left carbon splitter (not shown), killed my supercharger air filter and some hosing, knocked out air temp sensor (read -40C immediately after impact), undercarriage all mangled, and I'll need a new front bumper. At least that fucker died.
Anyone know a supplier that has an OEM euro bumper in stock with reasonable shipping to Canada? I believe the part # is 51118043958.

Same thing happened to my friend's silver S2000 out on CA Hiway 1. Adult raccoons can be a hefty animal, and do a lot of damage, but I keep in mind it's not their fault we hit them, really. Now those damn deer, on the other hand...

Sorry, no help on the Euro bumper, they seem to come and go in stock at various online merchants.

Hitting an animal is sad in a lot of ways.

Depending on your deductible, most likely not worth going through insurance.

On a positive, at least you will have a new front end and it looks like that filter needed to be replaced anyhow.

ECS carries a non-OEM euro bumper that is highly reviewed and regarded as as-good-or-better-than OEM in terms of fit/build quality/finish.

Luckily you were running a filter, else you would have raccoon-locked your engine.

Like jdamore said, at least you will have a new front bumper.

I was just on the raccoon site (www fucking humans who kill us and then complain dot com) and the one you hit was going on about his injuries and bemoaning how the human was bitching about car parts. Seems his buddies weren't to pleased about this and forwarded your posting to the RCMP for investigation of vehicular animalcide, excessive speeding, and other violations. They said to expect a knock on the door...

I was looking at that but wanted to stay OEM for fear of fitment/quality issues. You're referring to this right? https://www.ecstuning.com/b-ecs-part...9xm3ftrep~ecs/

OP, you probably didn't see raccoon at night, but vette driver in the video I posted, didn't even react to the huge deer running across the track in the middle of the sunny day.
I really think if he reacted quickly with hard braking, he might have missed that deer that was running very fast.
Something to learn from...

I know how you feel.
Stupid raccoons... tore up my e46 M3 6 years ago when I hit one, and then last year trashed the front end of my e93 hitting one.
Then I hit 2 at the same time this year and damaged my son's Focus ST. I felt really bad for that, because he's been taking care of that car and had never damaged the car himself. And here I was tearing up his bumper.

Needless to say, he grounded me from using his car for a month.

Not sure where in Ontario you are, but if near Toronto, European Autobody in Etobicoke did a great job on my M3 after a deer ran into me.

Took my car in today to a local shop. They tell me they can actually repair the bumper! They know I'm super anal and want perfection and they said it'll be as good as new. I've been to this shop before and I know they do great work so I'll take their word for it.
I pulled the dashcam video of the impact. The little fucker came outta no where and I had no chance to react...

If you look closely you can see its soul fly away. Raccoons have souls right?

I know it's a nighttime video, but no matter how many times I replay that video, he seems to magically appear out of nowhere.. No chance to avoid that...

Ouch that sucks. On the bright side it could be worst. Many years ago I ran over skunk, the smell lingered for couple weeks.

His note to self on the steering wheel said, "Don't hit deer, don't hit deer". Very ironic.

This part of the story is very concerning to me. Is this why BMW drivers get such a bad name?
