It used to happen a lot back when I had a MK5 GTI and the online forums were really busy. Hasn't happened to me yet in the M, though have had the odd nod of approval from other M drivers when passing

Of course my eyes always attentive for another M3, so when I saw another guy checking out my E90 this afternoon near Dickson in Canberra threw him a wave.
To my surprise i got one back. Thanks mate....

I do notice and salute other M's...it comes from years of riding a bike (motorcycle) where you always acknowledge other bikers. Some M drivers salute back others are impervious to the gesture...then again Oregon drivers tend to be much more polite and accommodating than just about any other place I've lived so maybe that's part of the equation

The wave back rarely happens for me. I think there are a lot of M3 owners who aren't really enthusiasts. They have one because they can. They like some things about it, such as the look or the sound, but don't love it and look after it as though its their offspring.
