New North CA member - '11 E93 MW (looking for advice)
Hello fellow M3 owners-
Soon to get a '11 MW E93 w/ about 30k miles. Parting my long time favorite '04 E46, surely will miss the inline 6 but finally can skip that constant antsy about the potential SMG pump/vano failures. The E93 will be my daily commute ride (20 miles a day) and pretty much bone stock at the moment, hope to get some advice from the fellow E9x owners: -R19 Tires Any suggestion on spec and brand? Considering most mileage will be local. Fully understood the 'need to pay, to play' kind of concept but also looking for a more economic option for daily commute tires. Stick w/ mfg rec size I imagine? 245/35, 265/35. There were a lot of recommendation on Pilot Sport. What about Potenza? a resounding nay? Appreciate if any tips for local (SF Bay Area) good pricing as well. -Wheels Not a fans of the stock 220 style. Gloss black suggestion? (mainly becoz I plan to swap the front/side grille to GB as well, more on that below), couple choices in mind: Vorsteiner VF-101 (mystic blk) OEM GTS 359 (any thoughts to get GTS wheels on a E93?) Foregestar F14 deep/regular concave in satin black Any other set I should be considering? -Misc. Exterior Put some thoughts into that age old q: OEM edition chrome vs gloss black front grille; think I will settle on the latter. Swapping the hood vent to match GB as well. The remaining question is the side grille, I am thinking CF or MW painted or stick w/ Gloss Black. (CF is being considered mainly becoz of the future CF spoiler/ diffuser add). As far as mfg, iND seem to get recommended here a lot, is that primarily becoz of sponsorship or they are indeed 'the One'? Would appreciate some candid input here. -Extended Warranty Caregard, that's what my dealer offer. Their name rarely came up in any forum, wonder if anyone has first hand experience w/ them. I only know that they are part of Automotive Finance Group (AFG) and not BBB accredited (does that matter actually?). So far based on search, Fidelity/ Easycare appear to be the go-to 3rd party choices. Overall, I plan to keep the car as minimal/ sleek as possible. Maybe adding the aero front spoiler and rear diffuser down the road and probably a CF trunk lip. (gd idea?) Much appreciate for any comments and hope to get some feedback. Will post some photos in next post. Cheers! |

Congrats and Welcome are in order....sounds like a sweet car
Tires...I'd stick with the Pilot Sports for the street, unless you plan to track it. They are a little more costly, but they feel perfect for this car. Wheels...OEM GTS 359 Nuff said ! Gloss black grills, gills, and hood vents will match the carbon bits you mentioned perfectly. Just my $0.02

If they are competition wheels you can fit 255/35, 275/55 pss without rub. No point of not up sizing them, also the same size as m4

+1 for Webb70 choice. You can also add a 5mm spacer up front and a 10mm spacer in the rear to be more aggressive on the 255/275 AG359 setup. That's what I'm running.

Yes, I added the little //M stickers to keep the factory look. 10mm spacers on the back.
