Exhaust valves

Been trying to unplug my exhaust valve on 35i but can't get them to open up, I tried revving it in sport+ and highway driving in sport+, any help would be appreciated. (I have the one with the electrical disconnect btw)

Doesn't this affect the performance of the car if the valves are always open?

I had the valves open on my m3 for 2 years, also the mpe on the x5 isn't valved so I don't think it would be an issue, however more experienced people on here can chime in.

Check out this post from an X3 forum, not sure if this helps. Seems the flap design and means of "holding" it open changes between model lines. On my E82, its as simple as pulling the vacuum line off the actuator in exhaust. My 35d doesn't have the exhaust flap, wish I could be more help.
