Well this oughta be interesting: M2 CS to have S55 engine

http://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1329532

M2 platform with a S55 on it (albeit "detuned") should be pretty fun, and outta give the F8x M's a run for their money imo

Sibling Rivalry- inner department rivalry .. may spawn an upgrade M4/M3 beyond the CP... CS anyone... If they do as what Chevy does with the Vette/Camero and Porsche does with the 718/911... Could be a win

If the M2 CS is confirmed, then the possibility of an M4 CS is even stronger. Although based on leaks we've seen so far, there is already a high probability of an M4 CS.

Not sure about an M3 CS though if 2018 is the last year for the F80.

I'd much rather just get the F80. It looks, in my opinion, much more special than the 2 series not to mention the interior is definitely a step up. And you get added practicality.

If BMW builds it, buyers will come.. Why not, the cost is minimal for them to put it into production. If they do sign me up

Pathetic how they neuter the M2 to protect the M4.

you mean pathetic like Porsche does with the Cayman platform, or others as well, so as to not cannibalize sales of their best selling model series and not lose profits?

SHOCKING~!!

Last I checked Porshe didn't spend resources Detuning the engine in the GT4, infact its more powerful than the base 911's engine.

So BMW is more clever than Porsche? What's your point? Did you really expect the M2 CS to be more powerful than a base M3/4?

By 15 HP but less torque.

Edit: the 911 has a 3.0 liter engine. The GT4 has the 3.8 from the 2016 911 S. That one had 400 HP/325 lbft so it would seem detuned in the GT4.

Chevy used to do it with the Camaro and Vette. Some say Porsche has with the Cayman.

EDIT: Beat to it.

The GT4 does have a detuned 3.8L, albeit negligible at 385hp vs. 400. The base has the 3.4L.

The M2 CS will probably be in limited quantity, sort of like the M4 GTS. There is no chance BMW will continue to make M2 w/ S55s unless they plan to do a full LCI with a completely new Engine (Which I really doubt)

I wonder if we'll see many of these with the 718. My buddy thay owns a Porsche tuning shop has done many Cayman with 911 engine swaps (quite a few with GT3RS engines) and they are total beasts. However, the 718 chassis is built around a 4 cylinder, so I wonder if the turbo flat 6 would fit in there with all the piping.
