I said it there and I'll say it again here: this is still one of my favorite builds and the the S65-powered 1M formula is exactly how the 1M should've came from the factory.

Well done

Yep, seen a vid on this before. What a great build. Guy' commitment is inspiring. Makes me realize the money I spend on driving an M3 is nothing to be bothered about. Also wakes my curiousity over whether I should boost my exhaust note a bit further.

Good stuff!

Love this build but for a dual purpose car that this is supposed to be....IMHO it's obnoxiously loud (its scary that I agree with Leno on something). Sounds like straight pipes. For a track car that's great...for a street car it's too much....IMHO. There are plenty of great sounding exhaust set ups that fall somewhere in the middle. My .02

I'd like to know more about those carbon wheels. Very unique. Not a mod you see very often on here. Sizes, prices, etc?

Its a very difficult exhaust to record. I am thinking of adding another set of resonators to the car. I run a modified e9x m3 X pipe and n54 midpipe with a 1m axelback so it is a bit of a unique set up which is shorter than the e9x system so it has a unique note but tuning or changing the exhaust is more difficult than you would think.

Here is some footage which better communicates the sound of the car.

The Carbon Rev wheels truly are fantastic. Most people tend to only see Carbon as a weight saving material but the true benefit to the carbon wheels are that they are super stiff. A Carbon wheel is 13x stronger and 40% lighter than an identically designed aluminum wheel. Due the material, they actually absorb a lot of road vibration too which was unexpected. I dropped 6 pounders per corner switching to these wheels AND got stronger stiffer wheels. These wheels are a robust design and actually exceed OEM standards.

Think they are down to $16k now. They will continue to become more affordable and are absolutely a sign of the future. Carbon Rev are making the Ford GT350R carbon wheels and also the new wheels for the Ford GT. Rumors are they are also going to begin producing OEM wheels for a few other car brands in the near future.

Jay Leno seriously is awesome. Out of the whole experience, I was the most impressed with how passionate he is about cars. His garage is insane. Its not just insane because of the obvious quality and spectrum of cars in his collection but that it really is a tour into his interests. All his cars are parked and arranged so that they can each be driven in and out of the garage. He regularly drives everything in there. He also commissioned film set designers to reproduce vintage car ads, postcards and magazine spreads on oil on canvas to decorate the huge walls. Leno's garage is seriously something else and only the imagination of an insane enthusiast could create.

Amazing build, amazing car... but that engine sound is where it's at, the sound is so RAW!!!

Gotta appreciate a well built and perfectly modified car.

Thanks for sharing this.

No offense. I REALLY like your car. Very well done. However, I am more jealous of meeting Jay. I am not a guy that goes over celebrities but Jay seems to be a regular guy with regular interests and money has not affected who he is.

Great car. Great video. Jay is awesome!

Thanks for sharing your amazing M///.

Thank you-! Jay is the man. I wasn't sure how he was going to like the car as it is a bit outside of his normal selection. He genuinely appreciated the car. I wish we could have driven it on the track though. City streets don't let you really ring it out.

It's extremely obvious when you hang out with him off camera that he is entirely doing jay lenos garage for fun. It is what he loves to do.

I'm happy you were able to meet Jay Leno and let him review your Dinan 135i1M3GTS/4....... I guess that's what it is now lol... All joking aside, you built an icon of a car... IF that car doesn't make it into some form of a motorsports museum at some point in it's life, it will mark a tragedy in the enthusiasts world.. That car deserves to live forever.

Nice Car!

As being a previous owner of a 135i(2009), I do know what you are talking about in regard to its limitation. And when I had it built, I spent about 3 months working with BMW Corp, to give me a "no-sunroof" option. Even offering them more money and they wouldn't budge on it!

Now I am buying (this week) an E90... nothing's better than a NA V8

Enjoy the car, perhaps bring it out to Solo Nationals this year!

Take it easy

Fantastic car and build. Congrats. Would love to see it on track.

It is clear that Jay loves cars and seems like a great guy, but man he needs to take some driving lessons. Always looks like he is about to fall asleep behind the wheel. Saw him drive an MP4-12C around COTA. Not the best...
