My First M!!!
Hey All,
As you can tell I'm brand new here and I'm currently in the process of buying my first M. I've decided on an e92 because it's in my price range and I like how the car looks/performs/sounds/etc. I had a chance to drive one recently too and I've fallen in love to say the least. I found a car that I think suits my needs as a daily driver, and I just want any opinions or advice on my purchase you guys can give. http://apexautonet.com/2013-BMW-M3/U...5/Details.aspx Most importantly, do we think the price is right? Thanks a ton and I look forward to becoming a member of this community! |

Looks good and clean. Pretty low mileage. I think the price is fair given the condition and miles. Obviously, get the Carfax and find out if you can also see the maintenance records. How many oil changes in that time? How many owners?

That car looks good with Comp Pkg + carbon fiber roof and professional audio. I think you should offer more like $41k-$42k. Even if they would go that low, they would come down some. Even if they said "No way", if you walk, you'll get a phone call within three days offering you a better deal than the current one.
The 2013 (and 2012) model is the one to get if you want the best iteration of the E9x generation. Sure, it will cost you more, but the upside is worth in my humble opinion. Whatever you do, we'll be looking for pics ITT. Good luck.

Welcome to the family!
Welcome to brother hood (not to forget the ladies of course) and just a few things you'll find with the forum- Very knowledgeable but highly opinionated members and sometimes unforgiving with respect to price, mileage and personal modifications, but a great group with a ton of experience to share. Being a relatively new member myself and former dark side fan (Audi S line) I had the same response when I drove my first M a couple of years ago which is pretty much identical to yours ( a few K more miles and a few K less $'s) and at the end of the day if it puts a smile on your face and you can afford it...screw what everyone else thinks ( you know what they say about opinions...everyone has one). If you think it makes you smile now, wait until you really learn to drive and extract the performance the car is capable of ... this may require a track or controlled roadway as a safe and responsible agent of the M badge but find it... drive it hard when you can and enjoy the pure elation of that bad ass V8!

Shoot for $41-43. For reference, at dealership, I paid $42,998 pretax for a clean, 1 owner loaded '13 with exactly 16,019 miles over a month ago, and it has warranty till summer. I didn't think it was much of a deal.
Market isn't great for sellers. Check cargurus, Autotrader, Cars, and BMW CPO websites religiously. I know there are better deals there than the one you posted. Also, I'm in the camp of buy the best / newest you can afford. Yolo. |

Also, check the above thread on what others in the forum paid. And check the forum's for sale by owner section. I still check it daily just for kicks. Sometimes you'll find deals, although I think you'll do better tracking the websites I listed earlier. |

I paid $49 last year for 2013 comp pkg CPO w/ 16k mileage that is IDENTICAL to your spec. The spec was exactly what I wanted, it was local, and PPI checked out. I love the car, and I have zero regrets. |
