When did your car start feeling a little "slow"?
Have owned my F80 for 6 months and just love this thing...but this past weekend was the first time I actually wasn't blown away by the power. I know we all get used to our cars and the associated performance, but part of me thought I would never feel like it needed more power. For a little background, my car is bone stock outside of a couple of drop in air filters. Not sure I want to go down the tune route as I am assuming I will have the same feeling after a certain amount of time. Interestingly, I never got this feeling out of my 2011 E92 M3...it was obviously much slower than my current F80, but it built speed so much more naturally and had such a wail to it that it never got old. The F80 builds speed so quickly, but it is a bit sterile/clinical...more functional speed vs emotional speed.
Any thoughts on the above? |

Easy solution.
Take your F80 in for service, drive away in the loaner 320i. Three days later pick up F80 and enjoy

My car does not feel slow, or sterile/clinical like you said. I must say though, I have a Remus exhaust so I have more sound coming into the cabin, I keep the valves open and downshifts are very audible with the exhaust. It's also tuned so I don't feel it to be slow at all, it's a pleasure to drive since I have 265 tires at the front with a good alignment so I get lots of feedback from the road. Maybe it's time for you to MOD further, I found the car in stock configuration to be to quiet but never slow by any means.

Hasn't felt slow yet. Most of the time if feels like I can barely scratch the surface of what the car can do because I am on public streets.

About 9 months in and still in complete awe. Bone stock with the exception of the clutch stop mod.

The day 400+ ft.lb. 3.9sec 0-60 becomes too slow for my skill level, I will start giving serious thought about a career change towards car racing. If that's how you feel, go and do something about it. I expect it will cost you something north of $100K to do that. If that's no obstacle, do consider P1 or 918. Alternatively, sign up for a DE, and learn how to drive to somewhere closer to 90% of the M3's potential. a

F80 M3 slow? Really? I don't find that at all. Mine builds speed so smoothly and rapidly I constantly find myself having to back off.
Turn off the traction control (push and hold for three seconds. Be careful... your M will now bite you. |

I just drive my E39 M5 or Z4M coupe for a while and then hop back in the F80...I love those cars, but in terms of speed, the F80 has them covered. (Of course the power deliver is much different, as you are alluding to.)
Only somewhat off topic, I had a loaner 330i a few weeks ago and was actually surprised how quick it felt. Of course, nothing like the M3, but for the bread and butter 3-series, not bad.

Drive other cars. That fixed the slow feeling for me. I drive my fiancee's car all the time and it makes me appreciate the power. Also, test drove a 997 Carrera S and then a 997 Turbo and neither felt as quick although the turbo was, just had less torque.
The only car I've driven that felt comparable so far is the new 991.2 Carrera S, but rightfully so. Its comparable power and TQ.
