After 200 miles, more observations/impressions

Well i just passed the 200 mile mark today. I finally got some good alone time with her cruising down the highway. Went to visit my friend near the beach on this beautiful day and wanted to report back some observations/impressions.

EDC: When on normal/sport mode you def. feel a difference, the car tightens up and becomes very stiff, while in comfort mode it is alot more comfortable and the car kind of flows esp. in turns.

M-DCT: D mode is incredibly smooth and fast, I noticed theres no kick of transmission when shifting in D mode. However once you switch to S5 you can feel a bit of a kick in the tranny when you shift up, it might be me but i think D mode shifts faster too. While in the lower D programs 1-3 you will be in 7th gear while going 40-50, but at D4-5 it keeps you in gear longer and doesnt shift as often.

Down-shift/blips are great, so fast and accurate, sounds great too.

Fuel Consumption: Not too bad, i averaged about 22 MPG for a 110 mile round trip (AC off, windows down) today and that included a few miles of stop and go/crawling traffic. However I did baby her and was going about 60-75mph in 6th and 7th gear. Occasionally shifting to lower gears to vary engine speed. Hopefully MPG will increase when the car breaks in.

The car is also pretty quite on low RPMs, you can barely hear the engine, but once you get to 3-5K then you start to hear the music increase.

Thank you Fifth. Glad you are enjoying the new ride. Feels so weird now that M-DCT is here....I feel like everyone was keeping track of that transmission like it was a developing baby.

i realize how hard it must be to hold back for the break in.
If you get 22 mpg now after 2X break in miles or 2400 you will get pretty good mpg.

btw beautiful pic. looks like a professional photography shot. JRZ is the best in changing luminosities.

Holy cow, that's REALLY impressive. I averaged 17.5 on a 250 mile trip, taking it very easy. Admittedly I was spending a lot of time jockeying gears to vary engine speed, and it's a 6MT, but still...

+1 Thanks bro. Still be a couple of months before I get mine, so it is good to read others DCT opinions. Most of ya will have yours broken in by the time I get mine, so it will be cool to hear how you like it at full tilt!

Keep the reviews and observations coming!

But I will miss my E92 335 25.1 mpg. If I can get 22 mpg, then I will be a happy camper. At least Al Gore will be that mad.

I usually get 20-22 mpg on the highway. City driving drops me down to 16-18 mpg. Keep in mind, this is not pushing it real hard. Fuel economy seems much better in the D mode than the S mode.
