DCT-M, on sale now w/no performance data
Guys,
As I wait for my M3 with DCT, what gives with no performance data being available on BMW NA's website. We all agree it is going to be an amazing transmission, but why has BMW been so behind on listing hard data. It is also interesting that there is no build your own for the M3 Convertible. Any thoughts? Thanks. |

^that's interesting. But IDK if the DCT turns out to be the best thing since sliced bread, I don't think 'long lines' would drive people to MB or Lexus.
More like if it sucks they'd want to hide that for as long as possible since some people who prefer auto-tranny and are on the fence for the ISF or C63 would say it's not worth paying extra to get an M3 w/DCT |

Word, and dont forget BMW did have a press day with the Convertable/DCT M3 at the end of March. I would imagine mag reviews will show up this month if not anytime now. However, these performance numbers from these mag tests will be for the heavy slower convertable and will not give a real indication of the improvement one might expect in the Coupe. Of course if the heavy convertable with DCT is just as fast as the Coupe with 6MT, then that would be telling. Jason

I do think the vert with M-DCT will probably break the 5s mark though. Perhaps 4.8s. |

I don't want to sound fatalistic here, but I think that this is just another mistake in the line of many that BMW has experienced with the launch of the M3. From my perspective, they have made some poor decisions in regards to marketing, planning, and production. Still love the car and they still are doing a good job, but they have lost some of their attention to detail and could have done better in a couple of areas.

thanks for a big fat nothing Foot.
Some people are waiting to decide and you may have some useful info (or not) and instead of saying something useful you say something useless. We're all still waiting for a legitamate press review of the DCT. |

Sorry but it's up to the guy himself to chime in with his thoughts and is definitely not my place to speak on his behalf.
But like I said his opinion was very positive on the whole. |

I have my DCT and love it. It doesn't matter what the magazines say at this point for me.

Yea, too bad it's the vert. Like they were saying above, some will take the slow times reported for the heavier E93 DCT and apply this to the whole M3 line and say DCT sux. I'm still hoping it's going to do better than BMW reports, especially since the coupe and sedan did much better than BMW's numbers. But I am sure those guys in the UK are going to have some fun.
