CF hood and trunk

A friend of mine created an OE looking hood and trunk in CF for one his buddy's M4, as a one off. He did this as a side project, and has never really worked on BMW's. I think it came out great and trying to encourage to do more and to get back into composite making. I don't have a F8x yet, otherwise I would have asked for one too.

I couldn't tell you the process he used, as I'm not well versed on these things but I do know he was trained in France.
Any input from you guys is appreciated, good or bad and I will link him/let him know.

I'd heard that as well. I asked about it at the Welt when I picked my car up. The guy said no and then went to confirm the no with someone else and still came back with a no.

The CF roof and trunk are well done, but just a little too much for my tastes. I suppose it could look good on the right car.

Interesting he chose to reverse the weave in the middle?

They look really nicely done, but wouldn't be my preference to install on my car.

Well, I did also have to teach the Welt guy about the outlet in the passenger footwell.

The M4's trunk lid indeed has a combination of Carbon Fiber and CFRP elements. Not the M3 though.

Just the thing for all of the "Civic" M3s on the forum!

Actually, I say that in jest. It looks like the guy has mad skills, regardless of whether or not this sort of thing is to your taste. Great job!

Craftsmanship looks pretty good. But too much raw CF and it doesn't really flow in my opinion.

I think it would look dope on a singapore grey car. Too much contrast here.

He does good work! Everything seems flush. But would definitely look better on a darker car. Like how I have a mineral grey M3 with a carbon fiber roof but nobody knows it lol.

Also, what's with the switch of pattern in the trunk? Throws things off.

Thanks for the input guys. I will let my friend know. We were more curious on what you guys thought of the fit and craftsmanship. I will pass on the compliments and criticisms as I'm trying to convince him to make select pieces for M cars. Much is appreciated.

Totally agree the cf looks off on a car this color.
As for the car, it isn't ours and the "V/reverse pattern" was what was asked for by the cars owner.
I believe that the trunk is painted except for the tail, and the hood is all painted except the bulge. Not entirely sure as I haven't seen follow up pics.

Thanks again

It is my hope that some crazy guy with an infinite budget will indeed do this. Good CF is beautiful.
