New to BMW Family (Pics added)
Hello All,
I'm a recent new member to the BMW family and new member here on the forum. We recently purchased a CPO 2014 X5 x35i and absolutely love it! A little back ground on how we got here. The X5 is the wifes DD as it replaced two cars we had. Her previous DD was a '08 Infiniti G37 Coupe plus we had a '12 Nissan Xterra Pro-4X then I had my DD ('12 Infiniti M37x). The G was giving us some intermittent, undiagnosed problems (at 99k miles) and the trade in value on the Xterra was remarkable high still since it was top of the line model (with leather) and only had 12k miles. So we figured lets see if we can replace two cars with one that offers the same experience/function of the two. Now granted, the X5 doesn't have the same spirited performance of the G but frankly the wife never really took advantage of the 330hp. The X5 did offer more luxury and plenty enough power to pass, get onto highways, etc. Plus it had the cargo space and roof rack rails to replace the Xterra. So here we are after a great trade value for the two cars and a below KBB value on the X5. Looking forward to being part of the community and learning about the BMW. There are a few quirky design items that bug me such as: Having to press start/stop twice to fully power everything down. There is no "ACC" type position to turn just the radio/iDrive on as a single push of the start/stop without the foot on the break powers up everything including fans, etc). Having said that the car is wonderfully comfortable, drives great and looks great! **UPDATE ** Added pics and details per VIN lookup (didn't realize I had the adaptive headlights). FWIW, I press the Start/Stop button one time w/o foot on brake to enter "ACC mode", and then turn fan to off position if desired. |

Welcome to the F15 family. If the vehicle is "awake", you can simply press the power button (volume) to turn on the stereo/iDrive when parked.

Thanks for the tip ... when I open the doors when parked, I do hear my iPod ding like it just got power. Never dawned on me to try stereo/iDrive, thanks.

We moved here 2 years ago from MD and love it! Wish we did it sooner .... I'll post some pics soon, been busy. I don't see any mods other than cosmetic. Already did front tint and will do black grill in a few weeks.

Enjoy the car...
I'm new to BMW too...got my 2014 X5 last week CPO & love every minute of it Very different than MB and many quirks I just don't know what were they smoking. I know many can be coded but why not make it standard? - push button twice to turn off - no folding mirrors on lock - no close trunk from remote - no way to perm. turn off auto/start/stop - active blind spot doesn't work 70% of the time Like I said. I enjoy the car and it's definitely not without its quirks

If foot is off brake pedal, then start/stop will toggle accessory (ignition only) mode for certain functions (eg, radio). If you want A/C, you need to start engine. You can also code car for additional prefered settings. This is my exit sequence:

The folding mirrors on lock, does it work when you hold down the lock button? Also I think the trunk can also be closed with the remote by holding down the trunk button and keep holding it until it closes. Now I'm not sure if this is for all models or maybe its different in various areas, but worth a try! |
