Changing gear box oil in manual m3?

Hi guys,
Wanted to clear this up, i m thinking about changing the gear box oil in my E92 m3 Manual 6 speed.

The reason I got looking into this is because a while back I had the car throw out 1st gear on me as I was accelerating.
I had taken of in first with a pretty spirited acceleration and at about 4,000rpm I heard a bang and noticed the gear leaver in neutral.

I tried to replicate it but it has never done it since and seems ok at the moment.

My only explanation was that maybe the gear wasn't pushed in properly, but this has never happened before.

After doing some research a few people said to change the transmission oil but on the other hand I hear all this stuff about never having to change it.

Would love to hear your feedback and thoughts on this!!

mileage? when's the last time it was done? DCT is supposedly a lifetime fill while 6mt is not.
If you change the trans oil might as well do a clutch flush while you're in there.
Make sure you check the trans strainer also.

My 1st-2nd was notchy and it did smooth out after a change.

At 100,000km and has never been done before.
Yeah I would have to go all the way I guess.
Would you suggest going for it and changing it?
Or may cause more issues down the line?
I had bmw tell me that it may cause the transmission to slip as the new oil will be thinner and less contaminated.
They reckon old oil becomes like a paste that holds everything together running smooth.

yea if you never done it. I changed mines at 20k miles and you're way overdue.
That's the dumbest statement I've ever heard. Take it with a grain of salt. Clearly that guy doesn't know what he's talking about.

I've heard good things about redline. My past cars had it but I stuck with the OEM fluid for the M. Topic is very subjective.

I've changed mine and used Liqui Moly. No issues but I don't know whether it's worth going to a heavier oil to reduced the transmission chugging!

It should be LT3 if it's built from 03/2007.

1st to 2nd is notoriously bad in almost every BMW.

At 100kkm I'd recommend a change with OEM which for memory is rebranded pentosin. If it's your workshop who suggested the older oil holds everything together, I suggest finding a better shop.

Hate to say it, but don't rule out spontaneous engine failure either. With the high km's and serious shortcomings and/or flaws these engines appear to have, some preventative maintenance may help avoid a $20k rebuild.

Here's some examples:
