Remote Suspension Reservoir Mounting Question

Hello All,

I have an MCS Two Ways on their way to me and I am starting to think about the placement of the remote reservoirs. I think the fronts are pretty straight forward as I plan to mount them on the strut bar. Is this a decent place for them? I assume the goal is to mount them out of the heat and in a location that is easy to access.

My question is how to handle the rears. I would prefer them in the trunk area so I can access them easy for adjustment and keep them clear of debris/dirt/etc. What have others done? Do you go though existing holes and route them into the trunk that way? Do you just drill a hole and run them in the trunk that way? I would think it would make the most sens to use a dry break bulkhead connector....

Any advice or suggestions for planning, what to do what not to do (lessons learned), etc.

Thank you in advance!

Strut bar gets pretty warm. I put mine in the windshield drains up front when I had them, and wrapped them in fuel cell foam to hold them in place while still allowing water through. Ran them that way for close to 40000 miles. The hose lengths on the MCS 2-ways I had were just about perfect for it.

Rears run through the trunk vents behind the fender liners and bumper cover, and canisters fastened to the trunk carpet. No holes in metal necessary front or rear.

i have this sort of fantasy of mounting my rear reservoirs (when i finally get coilovers) near the rear of the center console so i could, in theory, adjust and fine-tune when i'm on the track. i'm not sure how one would achieve this for the front... not sure if its possible, i'm just thinking it would be cool.

heh

There are extended adjusters you can buy for cars where the shock pin is buried in the unibody somewhere. I see no reason they can't be 8 feet long.

The front MCS struts for E9x come with quick disconnects, there's no other way to get a standard canister through the yoke on the upright unless you make the user break the line fittings open

The rears don't need one. You can just pop the trunk vents out and fish the canister through there, notch them to fit around the hose and put the vents back

Good to know. I use JRZ or AST so I'm not as familiar with the MCS.

MRF Engineering replaced my cabin filters with Burger Motorsports filters. This freed up space for the canisters in the front.

Burger filters not yet installed in this picture:

The MCS hoses come out the bottom of the strut unless they have changed somethjng don't think op would be able to pull that off without adding hose

You are probably right but you still need to mount the reservoirs somewhere. I think I remember seeing someone do the same with JRZ's.

Right I'm just saying MCS hose won't reach there. Windshield drain wouldn't have worked very well for you because the hose would have been too long

Thanks for the posts everyone! I ended up getting DB's for the rears too. It may have been a waste but I figured I may as well.

So it sounds like the rears are easy, does anyone have pictures of where they mounted them? I still have interior back there and prefer to keep it. Any inspirational pics would be appreciated.

I spoke to MCS and they also suggested putting them in the cowl versus the strut bar to keep them out of the heat. The question will be the line length. I am going to do the best I can to keep them out of the heat but I want to make sure they are easily accessed for adjustments.

And yes, the lines come out of the bottom of the MCS's. Thanks again all and again, any inspirational pics would be appreciated. :P

Fronts were in the windshield drains wrapped in fuel cell foam, so...picture that. Couldn't really see them when they were in place
