ABC News 5/11/17 on burning X5

I am on a domestic flying trip so not able to stay up with forums. I happen to catch ABC national news last night which had a segment on BMWs catching fire and burning down houses hours after the engines were turned off.

I think most images were of 3s but perhaps one X5. Where is the rest of the story in terms of what was going on with this X5?

rofl...that reporter should be fired...(pun intended).

He's trying to create news out of non-noteworthy events. Having to scrape unrelated evidence together to say there's a common relation (the BMW make) is absurd. Even a 5th grader who took 1 year of general science class can tell you that's a terrible conclusion to make.

The fact that they refuse to turn over all notes of each incident they're logging just shows they really don't know WTF they're doing or talking about. If I were BMW, I would sue them for libel.

Has me a little nervous. There was a 16 in there, but don't remember what series it was. Most are older models though.

35,000 people died in auto accidents last year in this country. 35,000. That's 95 per day. 95 people dead, every day, day after day after day. You know how many cars not in accidents catch on fire and burn? Not 95 per day. Not 35000 per year. Priorities. If you are going to be "nervous" about something, be nervous about dying in a car wreck, not some stupid attempt by some third rate "journalist" to sensationalize some nonsense like this. It never ceases to amaze me the things people stress about that are extremely unlikely to happen, then they go get in their car and drive here, drive there, drive everywhere.
