Happy and Annoyed
Happy that I completed my 1200 mile service today. Could be my imagination but the car drives smoother like she's been lubed nicely.
Annoyed that that the techs don't really give a shit about your car. Driving home noticed that my steering wheel is scuffed at the 1 o'clock position like someone was gripping tightly with a ring on and reving it like a motorcycle. The 8 o'clock position has a 3 inch scratch probably from someone getting in and out and something catching on it. Had to clean off some misc dirt as well. It's unfortunate cause my SA was super cool and accommodating when I requested no wash or test drive. I also learned it was his last day today and that he's transferring to Cali. Overall a very smooth visit despite my steering wheel being chewed up. Thinking about just letting it go woosah style and moving on. However I'm posting this in case anyone is thinking about using BMW of Silver Spring. |

That would piss me off man. Not sure what can be done about it unless you want to make a big stink.
I had some scuffs on my center console after redelivery from ED. I just let it go. |

get a wash cloth and soak it in boiling water then wrap it around that scuff and leave it there till it cools. I bet it will get rid of the scuff.

Don't leave the dealership until you fully inspect your car. I have always inspected my cars for roughly 15 mins before leaving.
I do this with loaner cars before getting in them as well. |

No way in hell I would accept that on my car! Speak to the service manager and have them replace it man! They need to be more responsible with customers' cars.
Here in Dubai when you take your car to the dealership for service, they wrap the steering wheel with plastic. They also wrap the driver's seat with plastic as well. |

That is indeed very careless. I would let them know about it when it's time to do the survey. I hope this gets taken care of to your satisfaction. Good luck!
Not 100% relevant story: This happened to me before but much worse in my C63 while getting the navigation/hud replaced. The service techs scuffed the shiftknob, center console, steering wheel and hand brake, more like peeled the leather, but MB immediately ordered and replaced any and all parts that were damaged. The service advisor got an earful from the general manager too as I was leaving the dealership.

I did this to my own steering wheel a few times only not as big. I was livid for a week the first time it happen. I kept rubbing it hoping it would go away. Lol now I laugh everyrtime I think about it. Im going to drive it love it and not lose sleep at night. Seriously, I feel your pain though. If its really bad I would have em check it out. Aloha & good luck

I would just tell them that you failed to look the car over and noticed it later, be clear you are upset, but don't be a douche and see what they say. All you may get is an apology, but in my experience, if they are going to do anything, they are more likely if you are civil to them.
Reality is, anything they offer is out of goodwill since you did not notice it before leaving, so keep that in mind. Good luck.

That?s probably the best advice, because we can?t seriously expect techs, chauffeurs,... to wash their hands, remove their jewellery.... one tech must have had very rough hands and I saw that on my steering wheel, luckily it cleaned away... I don?t care if they think we are OCD, it?s our property and we want to take good care of it!

I think this happens when exiting the car and your hip rubs against the steering wheel.
