2011 E92 M3 Start Up Gauge Sweep

Hi Guys,

I'm new to this forum and this is my first german car, I switched from owning a Honda Civic Type R

Owning this car for 8 months I've had no issues until now. So excuse me if my explanation is a bit long winded. When starting up on cold in the morning the orange and red bar above the rev dial would start on 5,500RPM and now it starts on 6,000RPM or occasionally 6,500RPM. Then as the car warms up of course this bar gets less and less.

Can this be because of my throttle actuator? My car had an engine management light recently which went away by itself, I know its my throttle actuator because my friend checked with his diagnostic machine but has deleted the error and since it hasnt come back.

Also to add to the above, I've had my exhaust modified, can this play a part in this or maybe even the warmer weather we're having at the moment?

Any help will be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Completely normal. The RPM red-line limit raises as the oil temperature rises as to not damage the engine (as much) if you rev that high when the oil isn't at proper operating temperature. Throttle actuators have nothing to do with this functionality.

Outside temperature will have an impact on where the lights begin, so you will see a higher start off limiter at 40 degrees C than you will at 10 degrees.

Hey OP, I just popped your "appreciate" cherry, great first question for a newbie. Also, you should upload a photo of your new ride, any mods beside exhaust? 6MT or DCT? Fill us in on some items like that, if you care to.
