Apparent Start/Stop glitch caused DCT to go into neutral

During a stop and go traffic with stop-start on, I let go of my brakes slightly too much and caused the engine to start. When I reapplied the brakes right after, the computer tried to kill the engine too quickly and completely shut the car off in neutral. The car would roll back with the engine off and gave me the "to start the car hold foot on brake" warning.

Anyone else experience this?

I've never experienced stop-start on, so WAY out my expertise.

In my 6MT sometimes if I try to get going too quick with the Stop/Start feature, the car stalls out and the engine turns off. I would have to let the car turn on, wait till it hits idle, then proceed to drive. Wasn't a big fan of it, unless I'm going through a drive-thru so I always just leave it off.

Why does any one use this dumb feature? It is annoying as heck to me.

My brain can't deal with my car shutting off. It goes into a weird panic mode of " Oh my god, I hope it starts again"!

First thing I turned off and it has never been on again.

I'd suggest not using it and see how it goes. Cause that's what I'd do! 😁

You'll be quite surprised how much gas you burn at idle with the f80. Not that I care so much about paying for gas, but in California you never know how long you're going to sit idle in traffic. I'm sure there was a good amount research and user testing for them to implement it in all their cars. Go figure.

Yea, it was definitely a little odd in the beginning, but it's actually kind of nice when its completely quiet if you end up sitting in traffic for extended periods of time.

I think there was some study done that for every 100K miles using start / stop, you will save about 2-3 fill ups vs not using it... lol

start-stop isnt supposed to try to shut the car off again if it turns on and youre still stationary. for example, youre stopped at a light and the car turns off; you let your foot off just enough for the engine to turn back on, but you dont move; the car should NOT try to turn back off unless you move again.

I would say this would be true if you're not in one of the major cities.

.
You need to build some speed , not sure what is the limit might be 5 or 10 mph to be able to stop the engine again. Otherwise it just stays on .

Yes, simply let car rolling wont "enable" stop again. I had cases when I dont want it to stop but it does and I lift my foot and it stops starts for like sec, I can tell the engine wasnt completely at stop but never any issues .

It's not perfect...

Wait till DCT stalls on you. That's fun.
