to get your car to you it must be

- given a short test on a dynamometer at the end of the assembly line (likely but not certain).
- driven off the assembly line to a parking lot.
- driven onto a transporter for shipment to a port.
- driven off the transporter into a parking lot.
- driven onto a ship.
- driven off of the ship to a parking lot at the destiantion port.
- driven onto a transporter at the port.
- driven off of a transporter at the dealership.
- driven to the garage for the PDI
- test driven a few of miles during the PDI.

The above assumes that no train trip is required given that you live in NC. This would add another loading and unloading cycle.

To me 13 miles is a bit high but doesn't seem that excessive.

Tell that to the guy who posted pics from his delivery with 0 miles! I think it was a fellow from NJ and his father worked at the dealer.

BTW, I had 6 miles at delivery.

I wouldn't be too concerned. Just check out the wheels etc to make sure there isn't any damage.

There was another thread (referenced above) where some stated that some cars get test driven at the factory.

Nah, that's fine. I wouldn't expect much less on the odo unless you had ordered the car.

Should credit Lucid with this info.

Can you request that the dealer does not test drive it when they prep the car for delivery?

I have received all of my BMW's with 10 miles or less on them.

My 335 had 13 miles on it so I had the tech take it out for a mile so I would start out with 14.

For the record, my car had less than a mile on it when delivered...I don't know why some have those miles. Truly tho, nothing to be upset about, what's that old saying? "Better you than me"

Okay that was just wrong but seriously, I wouldn't give it a second thought.

It obviously isn't possible (in the real practical world) to deliver a european car to a dealership in North America, dealer prep it and deliver it to to a customer with 0 miles on it. It has to be test driven during the PDI. I don't know what happened with that guy but there must be a reason why the car had 0 miles showing. It could not have been driven for 0 miles.

Your 6 miles sounds about right.

Mine had 20+, so 13 looks pretty damn clean to me. I checked for tire wear indicating hard cornering/starts, wheels, and exterior extensively. The car's been great.

I had 0.9 miles on my car at delivery. Do not quote me on this, but I am almost certain the miles do not start counting until the car is cold started at the dealer (dealer prep). The car is delivered to the dealer with all electronics disabled and basically fluid free. There may be some changes to that with port delivery and crap though.
