Looks like a pet peeve was solved years ago . . .
I'm always ticked off how dirty the review cameras always get on any SUV.
Looks like the $129,000 M6 solved it years ago!

Was actually talking about this with my friends the other day, VW has this on their Golfs, but nobody at BMW thought to implement this on their luxury SUV.

I don't think it's just on the M6. I believe all 6-series cars have it. A 650i Gran Coupe that I looked at has the camera under the emblem.

Agreed. Although it does suck having to constantly wipe the salt off the camera in the winter. At least the PDC is not affected by grime.

That's not a dirty camera. It's the "wash your car" warning. Standard equipment.

What ever happened to being able to drive? Who needs cameras? Lol. Yes, I like the camera. Why don't they simply have a sprayer pointed at it like the headlight washer?

I always turn around anyway and never use cameras or mirrors to back up, but it's just the principle of it. I do like that last second glance at the screen as I'm turning around just before I enter the street, so I don't hit someone walking their dog, carriage or kid on a bike. And this is from a luxury car company that never installed cameras as standard equipment on a 66k plus X5 without paying extra for a higher package. It would be so easy for them to have a spray head aimed at the lens whenever you turn your rear wiper on. The de-icer line is already in the tailgate. They did nothing, until 2018 finally make it mandatory for cameras in all brands now.

There are few other vehicles that do this, and I always thought it was weird for BMW not to do it, then I thought it's just another thing that will break and will cost thousands to replace.. Like everyone else I started getting out and wiping it once in a while.
