From Ohlins to AST Suspension, anyone done yet?

Hello guys,

I have had KW V3 on my E90, then Ohlins R&T.

Planning to track my car more often but yet still going to be my daily.

I am considering AST 5200 series coliover system, since AST 5200 is fully upgradeable to 5300 once needed, I may just start with 5200 first.

Any inputs/feedbacks would be appreciated!

Thanks

Not the same situation but tlp here had Ohlin R&T's, and now JRZ Pro with the external reservoir. He didn't feel that much of an improvement. It's going to be deminishing returns and you'll have to have the skill to make use of the incremental improvement.

But there are some very nice sets in the used section now, including a JRZ Pro set, MSC 3 ways and Moton Clubsports.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

Kinda off topic, but since you had KW v3 and then Ohlins R&T, which would you say was more streetable?

Ohlins R&T is a great street kit, but as you become a more aggressive driver on the track, you'll likely outgrow the kit and its limitations.

AST 5200 is a fantastic next step for those seeing more and more track usage.

Thanks Tom, AST 5200 surely looks like it's the best bang for the buck.

Both Ohlins RT and KW V3 are basically bolt on and doesn't require permanent modification to the car if I want to reverse back to stock suspension right? (I do remember the Ohlins need camber plates to work)

Gonna do suspension mod next year and never done it before

Either Ohlins or KW, both don't need any modifications.

Thank you, I'm planning on going with Ohlins RT. How often does the kit need to be serviced/rebuilt?

I have been told around 30,000 miles depends on your condition.

That's good enough, I was afraid of 10 or 15K service internals
Thanks for all the great info!
