Entirely different cars. The ZL1 has 650 bhp and is really fast. The suspension and brakes ae both well sorted, and the car will acquit itself well on the track. The new Camaros have better interiors than they used to (but still not as good as you would expect for the $65,000 price tag on the ZL1), and they do look good. A ZL1 will smoke our M3s in acceleration, but...No matter how you carve it, the car is HUGE and outward visibility is almost nonexistant. These don't matter much on a track, or in the mountains, but they do matter when you are driving in traffic, trying to merge, or trying to park.

Two completely different cars!
I assume you have a performance focus? A ZL1, especially a 1LE will absolutely destroy a supercharged m3 in all performance parameters and not even break a sweat. Also, one is a $30k used car and the Camaro is $70k with near supercar performance. I highly doubt these cars are cross shopped 95% of the time. To answer your question, I’d get the Camaro if within your budget. However, your post doesn’t detail what your needs and requirements are. |

I figured a 650HP supercharged M3 would beat a ZL1 in the 1/4 and roll racing.
The Camaro will certainly destroy an E9X M3 on the track, it's a 10 year old car. Hell even the current M3/4 would get slaughtered.

It's obvious that it would destroy us on a track.

I am in awe of the Camaro’s performance for a bone stock car at its price point. It’s not for me, but would make an interesting 4th vehicle if I had the budget |

I actually had a 2017 1SS with the 1LE package (track pack) priced out the door at $42K. That equated to almost $10K under sticker. Unfortunately, that is the problem with the Camaro's. Their value drops like a friggin rock. While it was pretty impressive to drive, my concern is longevity. Chevy's tend to shake-rattle-n-roll after a couple of years, which drives me nuts. My 2008 CONVERTIBLE M3 with 91K miles on it still makes your ears pop when you close the doors. No rattles, nothing. Sorry to say...you just can't beat German engineering...

If performance is the biggest concern, why not step up a little and buy a second hand Corvette Z06? It has the same engine in a smaller, lighter car, has a better interior, and has much better outward visibility. And the Z06 will smoke the 1LE at the track.

Are you referring to the ZL1/1LE or the standard 1LE?

From what i am seeing the Z06s' are having cooling issues (even the 17's) and the ZL1's are not. The new 10 speed is a much better transmission than the Z06s' 8 speed and i can fit my rug rats in the back of the ZL1, also the insurance is less expensive. I appreciate your opinion, just letting you know my thoughts.
