Do I need ConnectedDrive for Spotify controls?
My trial in no longer in place and I'm wondering if I need to pay to control the Spotify on my iPhone with the iDrive. I can play songs and go to the next one via the Bluetooth player, but I'd like to be able to see my playlists and switch between them. Do I need to pony up $50 for this?

If you on USB then definitely not. Bluetooth should be fine too.
I did end up renewing for 3 years after slacking for a few months though because of small annoyances like RTTI.

Hmmm. Whether connected via bluetooth or USB, I'm only able to advance the track. I cannot pull my playlists nor switch between them. Also, it's my understanding that RTTI is a separate charge from ConnectedDrive. Can anyone confirm?
