Back in an F80: Tanzanite/Golden Brown ZCP
Hello Bimmerpost,
A little over a year ago I traded my YMB 2015 M3 for a Porsche 991.1 C2S to fulfill my childhood dream of owning a 911, thinking the back seats of the 911 would fit my then 9 month old and 2 year old kids just fine (my wife is very understanding, lol). After picking up the 911, I immediately missed the low end torque of the M3 and came to really miss the practicality of the M3 (though I did fit 2 car seats in the 911 and fit a compact stroller in the frunk). During the past year, I think I visited this forum just as much as I visited Rennlist. With that being said, I love the way the 911 handles and sounds, how solid it feels, and really grew to love the 3.8L NA engine. Last week, I finally got back into an F80: a 2016 ZCP with Tanzanite exterior and golden brown interior to serve as the fun family car. This time, I found one with all the options I wished I had gotten on my old 2015 F80 (it was a relative stripper with just leather, DCT, and 19" wheels), to include a bunch of port installed parts. and a pic of my 911 - it is a paint-to-sample finish: Grigio Campovolo (light, non-metallic gray). I feel really fortunate to have both cars. Just wanted to say hello to the community! Joe Last edited by SonicJlee; 11-17-2017 at 06:15 AM.. |

Wow great choice. Congrats.
I gave a two year old and almost went with a 991 c4s. Glad I didn’t. I will one day but bit when I have to do daycare drop offs. |

2 beautiful cars, enjoy them both. I have the golden brown interior as well, I think it's the best color interior they make!

Thanks. The 991 actually fit my kids fine (getting them in was a tad difficult as it required some maneuvering), I just couldn't fit the kids and my wife comfortably as my son is still in a rear facing car seat...also, cargo space is limited. As a result, I just didn't use the car much as most of the time I was either commuting in my daily driver (I drive 160 miles/day) or was driving the entire family so we used my wife's SUV....both boring cars. I was longing for a fun car that I could comfortably haul the family in (i.e., could get used a lot) so I picked up the M3 and plan to use that as the family car instead of the SUV. If I had a shorter commute of less than 20 miles I would have used the 991 as my daily.

The perfect pair. I've been thinking of getting an F80 M3 (or E90) for a while to go with my GT4 (and replace my E36 328i), but it's hard to justify the spend. And I work from home and live in the city.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
