Please let us know if your car was originally purchased.
Euro Delivery = (ED) Performance Center Delivery = (PCD) Demo/Executive Car = BMW Demonstrator Car, Media Car, Executive Car, previous Performance Center Delivery car, etc. Last edited by nachob; 01-01-2018 at 12:01 PM.. |

The options for ED include that it might have been a demo car. Makes little sense to me to group them this way. What are you driving at?

I voted. Bought used. Drove for 10k miles. Motor was ok but when removing the bearings at 47k, they were badly worn. No symptoms. Proactive replacement.

If there is a trend, we can break it down further with another poll. It is very difficult on ED or PCD drive home to resist not going past 4K. Some might be able to resist it. I did resist..but it was brutally tough to be driving a brand new M car on the autobahn and keep it all under 4K. Luckily, I was there over two weeks and was finally able to go past 4K on the last day after having break-in service in Munich. From my discussions with most ED or PCD people they usually couldn't resist. Demo or executive cars are basically the same thing and people generally don't follow as much of the break-in or warm-up process. Ex PCD cars are generally broken in before going on the track from what BMW tells me but they do get driven pretty hard. I have found that lease owners tend to not worry about long term life, they plan to turn the car in after 3 years. So I have to generalize somewhat and group cars. So what I am trying to get at is that if an M3 was carefully broken in and maintained the way BMW asked that it be broken in and maintained and driven, how many still experienced bearing failures. |

It's actually the same with bearing failures with only 6K miles on it , while others run strong today with + 200K on it . The German S65 lottery...

Bought mine new with 5km on the odometer and drove it very hard from the very beginning. Only maintenance is the 10w60 Castrol oil change so far. The engine sounds like new and runs very strong!
