X5 black emblem find help
Looking for a black X5 emblem for the rear. Found one on Amazon but up to 2014 model. Can anyone please link me to where I can buy one?

IND is the one I would get. Amazing customer service and their quality is top notch. I usually buy all my cosmetic parts from them. They were the only ones that had Ruby Black side markers as well.

Why not Plasti Dip? Maybe add a little pearl, gloss or metalizer?
$95 is ridiculous! |

For the X5 emblem, might as well just buy a chrome emblem and paint it yourself, then swap it out. That is essentially what IND is doing but charging a pretty big premium for it...

If you are intent on spending the money it would be better spent getting the black painted roundel which would be much harder to get right DIY.

If you are going to paint it yourself, you can just remove the original X5 emblem and paint and re-apply with some 3M double sided tape
Just remember to apply painters tape around the emblem so you know how to align it again. Amazon and eBay has the X5 emblems but they are for the E70 models. At least that's what they were when I was searching. I just ended up buying iND's emblem and attaching it.

Something durable like VHT engine enamel or caliper paint. I’ve done this on a bunch of previous vehicles and it turns out great.

The roundel might be tough to tape up. Interested to see how that goes and any tips you can share after.

I figured that much, but just taping the actual center roundel portion cleanly will be tough.

So I had an easy time getting the badges (sides and the X5) but once i got it sprayed, I couldn't get the finish to my likings. I think maybe the type of paint I used? I had to used hot water (and it actually rubbed off the paint back to looking normal) and ended up putting the original back on it
I'm still not willing to spend $100, maybe I should try caliper paint? |

Yea, just leave them off. The key to painting them is light coats. Mist it until it’s all covered. Let dry for an hour, then do it again. A heavy coat on plastic just makes it run and look terrible.
But again, I’d just debadge and call it a day. |

Yeah personally I would have just done two light coats the most and let it dry. It looks like the paint is caked on that emblem lol. Get some paint remover and start fresh
