Hit a deer...

On the way into work this morning on back roads around 35-40 mph. No distractions only watching the road and I was completely caught off guard. It wasn't there then all of a sudden it was there. Hit it with the drivers corner bumper popped it up and it fell behind and off to the left of the car. Legs splayed out, it lifted its head, looked at me, got up and then ran into the woods. All damage is on the front corner and pushed the fender in to the wheel - no airbag deployment. Front lip is ok, bumper, headlight, fender, hood, plastic shield underneath are all damaged. Could have been worse but not driveable. More upset about the car than anything. At a reputable shop now so hopefully will come out ok. I'm now in a mustang convertible as a rental and it's boring. Just hoping I get it back soon and it's done well...

Oh man. Glad you're okay. I have several friends who've hit deer on a dark back road. The damage was crazy.

Even if you were paying total attention with the speed they come across the roads you couldn’t have done anything.

It could have been worse.

You could have hit a moose.

Here's my '84 E30 Euro 323i after a collision with a deer at 75mph on the interstate at night. This was almost 20 years ago now.
I repaired it with a bunch of loaner parts from a '85 325e.
Glad to hear that you're ok...they can certainly come out of nowhere...and the cars can always be replaced.

That sucks. Good to hear you are ok, and hopefully the deer as well.

Sounds like you'll need a new front bumper...euro bumper time!

Google big red boxing kangaroo on you tube.

You will see the potential size of this beast.

Actually it is under Comprehensive unless you swerve to miss the deer and hit another vehicle or object.....

Not my experience, but laws are perhaps different in different states.

I've hit a handful of deer over the years. They just pop out sometimes and there's little you can do. Luckily you are ok. Don't worry - that's what insurance is for.
