Dealership oil change fee?
How much is your guys dealership charging for oil change? I'm currently at 6k miles since my last oil change and don't feel comfortable driving the car until 10k for my free oil change. Both dealerships in portland, oregon is quoting me $199.95 using their oil, part #83-21-2-449-994 (Bmw Group Ll-01 Fe 0W-30 832511)

Thats pretty expensive. The oil itself is usually $7-8/L from the dealership + say $15 for the filter. So no more than $75 for the materials. The rest is labor which any competent shop should be no more than 30 minutes. I would recommend buying the materials and taking it to an independent shop for the work or doing it yourself if you are mechanically inclined.

Yes DIY! I just did mine for less than $75. Car is still under warranty so I bought oil and filter from the dealership. Used my BMW CCA membership for 10% off. I had 4200 miles with a lot of full throttle acceleration and 4 track days.
This car is the easiest oil change I have ever done - very straight forward.

I would say there is probably a good indy shop in your area that is more than capable of changing the oil with the proper fluids for a reasonable price.

So easy to do by yourself. Buy a drain pan from your favorite parts store and they will take the used oil from you when you are done. 7 qts of full synthetic will do the job and you can buy filters and oil from places like Bavauto.com or Turner Motorsports. Don't let anybody tell you that you have to use the BMW oil! BMW does NOT make oil!

I'm not sure if they do oil changes but try http://www.matrixintegrated.cc/about...side-location/ in the Portland area if you don't want to DIY and want a decent price. I've been happy with their work in the past.
