Broken Coolant overflow bleed screw
So I was bleeding my radiator and when I went to tighten up the plastic bleed screw, the head snapped off. I have a replacement but can't figure out how to get the old one out without drilling it and getting bits of plastic in the overflow tank. I've tried a screw extractor but the plastic is pretty brittle and it's not pulling the screw out.
Any other ideas? |

I had the same thing happen and a screw extractor got it out pretty easily. Is it on super tight?
Another option would be to epoxy/JB weld something onto the flat part of the broken screw and try to get it off that way. I replaced the screw with a metal one afterwards

same thing happen to me. i suggest everyone change their screw on a regular basis. I have a brand new expansion tank available if you need one. I could not get mine out. it just kept crumbling.

Thanks for all the quick replies. After the first attempt using a screw extractor simply drilled a hole, I used the next size up extractor which gripped and removed the screw.
