Does the S65 have a engine case breather?

Hey Folks,
With both my valve cover gaskets going on me and an annoying oil cap and valve cover leak ever since I SCed the motor, I am getting ready to do some service on the car and was thinking about checking the case breather to see if its contributing to the leak (not allowing the additional pressure to vent fast fast enough). I did a search but didnt find much. One thread said the S65 has no breather per se, but I read other posts where it was suggested there is one.

Has anyone touched this before and know what goes into checking it for clogs? Where is it located? Can I get to it without pulling the huffer off? I suspect I am getting a bit over normal case pressure now with the SC and that is encouraging my leaks. Im sure its also cause the seals are older and need to be replaced.

Appreciate any knowledge you can lend on this topic.

Thanks m3 post. I tried the old and new oil cap . Right now im on the new oil cap with black high temp rubber weld holding it to the plastic. As long as I get it really super free of oil on the rubber and mating surface, I have minimal leakage at the cap now. But that corresponds with a more noticeable leak at the valve covers giving the vapor a place to go other than through the cap. Thats why I was thinking it would be good to check all of these items at once. Ill give the new cap a go.

Garage List
Sounds like a PCV issue if sealing up the oil cap is truly causing more leaks elsewhere.

I had the E46 M3 oil cap in my S65, still leaked occasionally. Changed my valve covers, same oil cap, no more leaks.

I can had some info on your question about the pcv system.
The s65 internal "pressure" is breathing freely through the two oil separtors on the valve covers. Oil vapors go through the intake and back through the 8 throttles. If oil droplets accumulate: they drop back into the check valve behind the bloc.

I am quoting directly from the Self Study Program of the S65/e90:

"The oil separators are bolted onto the cylinder head covers. The connection between the oil separator and the intake manifold is not screwed but plugged. This reduces the risk of incorrect assembly.
As is typical for the M series, no crankcase pressure control is mounted/integrated"

Then help me understand what the Non Return Valve (PCV) part x11617836553 does please. I was told it is the pressure release valve for the crank case. Do I need to replace the oil separator too part 11157848155?

The valve you are talking about is a check valve, located in the back of the engine.
It allows oil droplets that are located in the intake plenum to be drained back into the engine.

Your engine is breathing through the two oil separators and I dont see how your separators could be block. If you had overpressure inside the block your crank seals would also be pissing oil.
