N63TU owners with RaceChip

Who is running Racechip on their 50i? I have one with 50k miles and 1.5yrs under CPO still.

Anything negative to report? Did you chance the plugs/coils? I have the X5M plugs in, not sure if they handle the higher boost better or will you still get misfires? Anything else to consider in terms of negatives?

It is my Daily Driver and we do long road trips as well, what I am looking for is better throttle response as well as the torx/hp gain.

Thx in advance.

What made you want to put in X5M plugs?

Used Racechip in my 2 prior cars ('13 535 and '16 550).
The 550 was N63TU and I had no negative issues. Did not use different plugs and did not have any misfiring.

Price. They were like 4.40 a pop. Gas mileage increased 1-1.3mpg. But that could just be the fact they were new plugs not specifically the M plugs.

OP, if you have X5M plugs, it should even hold better with higher boost.

I have been selling a lot to the guys in this forums and I even used it for my daily driven G30 540i for almost 2 years already.

I never tried JB4 or the other solutions.

I was looking for a chip tune, got the RaceChip Ultimate. Definitely felt better with it. I never had engine problems because of it. Installation was fine. I didn't go with high settings. I think I'm running the lowest settings still which gives more low end power. I am happy with that.

I got regular (50i) spark plugs service done recently whilst still under warranty. The only out of pocket I went with the X5M air filters, which has more air volume which makes sense if we are increasing the boost with a chip tune. I spend some monies here and there to take of the engine like 5000 mile oil and filter service interval; I also use some Techron concentrate every time I go on a long road trip.

The "mechanical" problem was a fuel pressure error that required a new sensor, but I don't think that had anything to do with the chip tune.

Going on a year with min not one issue. Oem plugs didn't last long with it though. Needed to replace after 10k mile of use. On M plugs now as per my DIY thread and it's been running great ever since. Would switch to BM3 if I had $1000 to burn but RC is just much more economical for "almost" the same amount of performance.

Do you really think there is problem with OE plugs? I don't notice any problems. I get 21 MPG on road trips with mostly highway driving.

Not a problem. They're just not meant for higher boost applications. While colder plugs are. What's different about the M and 50i plugs as far as components I have no idea. I still had to gap them down as I'm pushing higher boost than even the M.

But with that said the M plugs were half the cost of the 50i plugs at the time. Now it's a different story.
