BUY or PASS - Alpine White M3 Sedan
Currently speaking with a dealer in KY (I'm from the East Coast), most likely going to do Performance Center Delivery. The salesman has stated he can do "$1500 or so off MSRP, maybe more" if I am serious.
Here's the car in question: M3 Sedan Base Price 53,800.00 Color 300 Alpine White N/C Upholstery NDH2 Fox Red Extended Novillo Leather 1,100.00 Options Cold Weather Package 1,000.00 Premium Package 2,000.00 Technology Package 3,250.00 M Double-clutch Transmission with Drivelogic 2,700.00 19" Forged and polished Double Spoke wheels 1,200.00 Moonroof 1,050.00 Park Distance Control (rear only) 350.00 HD radio 350.00 Satellite radio with 1 year subscription 595.00 iPod and USB adapter 400.00 Enhanced Premium Sound 1,900.00 Net Total 69,695.00 Destination Charge 825.00 Gas Guzzler Tax 1,300.00 Total Suggested Price 71,820.00 Just wondering what some of you guys think about the deal. . .I'm leaning towards PASS (depending on how low he can go. . .) That being said. . .how does 68.5K to 69K sound? Generic Pic:

^ I agree. In fact, given the economy the way it is right now, you could probably get it for below 65. At least thats how much sedans are going for on ebay (depending on your mileage, of course). If I were you, I would throw that in his face, but that's just me lol!
Good luck! |

So the car already exists? Has it been test driven? Is it on the floor with grubby people getting in and out of it daily? I would ask your sales person all these questions. If its been test driven I would ask for way more than $1500. I dont trust a dealer that they made sure their "test drivers" didnt overdo it on the RPM or pay strict attention to the break in process. I would then tell them you could probably order an 09 for $1500 off and get the exact options you want and not have to worry about previous "test drivers" or some fat dude getting in your car and farting on the seat.

How can you do PCD for a car that is already built? Or is it still in the early stages?
I agree with the others - you should be able to get more than $1.5k off though I am not sure how much more than that given its M-DCT and those seem to be in higher demand and have less room for discount. |

You can do better in this part of the country. We ordered an 08 sedan with DCT from a dealer here in Ohio, and were able to get $2500 off the top immediately.

It's brand spanking new. . .but to do PCD I would have to order new, so I think I would sacrifice the deal considering the ordered car would be an '09? Even with the economy being what it is I don't think the dealer would budge much. . .
Anyone currently negotiating a '09 M3. . .because the dealer has a few 2009 allocations left. . .

good friend of mine is the Finance director at Moritz bmw in Arlington Texas. I payed 300 over invoice for my 335 when it first came out and that was when no one was willing to discount at all . He said he can sell a M3 for a little over 700 over invoice for anyone I refer to him that includes ///M mats and pdi

A word of caution regarding purchases from distant dealers. Post-sale issues are difficult to resolve. BMW NA will cover all warrantee repairs and service at any dealership in the country (probably the world), and are very good about it, but will not cover any agreements or disagreements with the dealer. I think it's a rare problem, but one worth considering all the same.
