Steep curb solutions?
I'll be moving to a new place soon and the driveway curb angle is pretty steep.
Almost vertical. I asked the property management about this and they said it was standard, approved, etc. but that I could install a non-permanent curb ramp. Anyone have any experience with steep curbs and suggestions for what might work to make entry into the driveway without scraping easier?

I was in a similar situation and purchased a Bridjit. It worked like a champ for 3 years and prevented me from ripping my bumper off or cracking my lip each time I entered/exited the driveway. John Curry is the owner and essentially is a one man band. Nice guy and very helpful if you have specific questions. It worked out well as I ended up selling to my neighbor when we moved last December.

I have a similar issue. I went to Home Depot and cut a 2x10 into 4 parts out of a 10 foot piece. I use those to help me get in and out.

Those solutions you've found may be better and more cost effective.
Some people put steel plates there, but they're very heavy and cumbersome, not to mention not very cost effective. Here's a Corvette forum talking about steel plates. |

Isn't putting something there going to blow water flow when it rains? Maybe not that big of a deal.
Separately, very odd placement for a/c units if that's what those are on either side of garage. What are they?

I visited a couple of weeks ago someone who has a similar curb and now I have to replace the front bumper and deflectors (cost ~ 1500 euro) as they got damaged while reverse driving back to the road. When the wheels got off the curb the entire front smashed against the curb. It was not so steep but the front of the car is super low.
Although in your case you can reverse from the driveway back to the road in an angle so that both front wheels are not simultaneously off the curb but there is going to come a day that you are not thinking as clear as on other days and that you forget to do it. I don’t know if in your case it is a solution that you reverse drive into your driveway so that the front points to the street which might work. Reverse drive your car in an angle on your driveway and have a friend watch it while you slowly drive off the driveway. The comments here about the property are not nice, just ignore them Last edited by G4BR13L; 03-07-2019 at 04:24 PM.. |

put the black plastic lip on the bottom of the front and hit it at full speed. cheap replacement part, and no one knows anyway if the bottom of the lip is scraped up

Lol. That’s nothing. Learn how to enter and reverse at an angle. You’ll be fine

Reversing into the driveway or coming in front end first at an angle is not a cure all. It only works if the curb is short enough and/or the pitch is favorable. Angling in and out or reversing did not work for me at my last home. I had to get some apparatus to prevent scraping. There was no way around it. My neighbor had a 335i and he would scrap EVERY single time. I would not be surprised if he's had to replace his front bumper by now.

you live in a flood zone?
looks to me like the builder is CHEAP. way to maximize profits. I hope you didn't buy the property I'm sure the construction/material is cheap as possible.

I think this can be reversed into as well, but it's close. I had a bridjit and it's the perfect product for this driveway. Unfortunately this didn't work for my driveway, but I highly recommend it for yours.
