What's involved in Dynamic Light Spot retrofit?

Hello! I've seen some mention on here of this being done, but cannot find any specifics. I already have night vision on my 2014 X5 and I rarely drive in cities with pedestrians, etc. But I have all kinds of deer and wildlife out here. Can I simply just swap out the fog lights for the spot lights and code this for it to work? I've seen mention of the euro spec headlights being needed as well, but cannot find out why.

Thanks!
Adam

I've looked into this as well. The US foglights need to be replaced with the spotlights, which run about $900 from the dealer. You can sometimes see them on Ebay from Europe for less, but not in pairs.

You have to do some coding to activate the spotlight feature, but not sure the exact coding required.

To me, not worth it, but maybe I'll get the itch to do it someday.

I am interested also in coding/options that are required. I'd love to see some examples of it from a fellow forum member.

Any more insight? Anyone that's done this?

I believe there was a thread on this or maybe another F15 forum a while back and I think someone did the conversion and coding. Do a search?

Can't seem to find an answer on what is needed hardware wise, other than the spotlights themselves.

Aren't the spot lights used with night vision? What do they do on their own?

You'll probably need to VO code (add 5A3, might need to remove 6UK - not sure) the spotlights, it's a different version of night vision, there also looks to be some wiring required between the lights/to the headlights - I'm not sure how much is included with the regular harness.

Here is the wiring diagram for what you're looking for (this is for my 40e but should be the same for other models):

The wiring diagram for regular LED fog lights:

I'm looking at actually retrofitting NV with or without selective illumination once I get all the parts so it would be interesting to know what is included in the regular harness.

I would love to know this. I have the spotlights (bought on ebay), but haven't yet tackled the project to try and install, then code them. Apparently, they need to be mated to the VIN, then programmed.....
