2015 X5 M Sport: steering wheel could telescope lower

This has been one of my minor and unanswered questions.

The steering wheel cannot telescope to a lower desired point. It feels just a touch too high in the lowest position.

Any thoughts?

It doesn't bother me since I drive the car rarely (this is my wife's car). It's just basic engineering curiosity. I personally like a slightly lower seating position so it would be nice to have the steering wheel a bit lower.

i had the same issue. at the most comfortable position, my wheel would cover the turn signal on the cluster. that's why i coded the turn signals in the hud.

When I test drove the X5, I found that my ideal position was blocking the instrument panel, so having the HUD was essential to me.

I almost never look at the instrument panel as a result.

If yours doesn't go lower, perhaps it's broken?

I find mine to be a bit too high as well. The E70 went lower. It’s my understanding that it has to do with the ability the air bag to protect the drive in a crash.
