Went for 30k/36month Service, Car Accelerates Slowly

Took my 2016 M4 to dealership and they performed the 30k/36month service:

Replace engine oil and filter.
Replace engine intake air filter.
Replace spark plugs
Change the brake fluid.

Service adviser calls me back and says the valve cover gasket is leaking oil and that is replaced as well.

I pick up the car drive it home and when the engine warms up, I put it in M1 (sports plus everything). I accelerate and hear the turbo spool very very loudly along with the dump valve very very loudly. I try again from a stop light, same thing happens. Loud turbo/dump valve. Seems like the car wasn't getting any boost and the car accelerates very slowly. I thought I was back in the 330i loaner they gave me.

Dropped it back off for them to look at.

Did they forget to connect something?

I would have at least let the car readapt....software was probably updated, thus the car had to relearn.

I asked service adviser if there was a software update done, he said no.

Service adviser said there was a vacuum hose clamp loose.

I mean wtf, do they not double check everything before they give the car back to the customer? What if I caused an accident going home? Would they be liable?

Should I bring it up to a manager? Am I overreacting?

I'm kind of agitated since it's a 90 mile round trip to the dealership and back home. I'm glad I noticed it immediately.

Not professional but it happens. I would talk to the manager though. A vacuum line is not the end of the world but then I would have my doubts about the rest of work done.

Definitely a slight overreaction to the whole getting into an accident part. Just need to calmly voice your concerns with the Service Manager, and take things from there.

See if they can offer you any BMW swag for the inconvenience.

Based on your description, it doesn’t sound like a vacuum clamp, it sounds more like one of the charge pipes wasn’t secured. Since they should have done an oil service, it’s clear they didn’t properly warm up the car by test driving it before electronically measuring the oil level, otherwise they would have noticed the loss of power. I would get the details (either employee number or last name) of the tech that did the work and respectfully request they not be allowed to work on your car in the future. This is assuming, of course, you choose to continue using that dealer.

Makes me question if they did the vehicle check service or even replaced the oil and oil filter. I would not trust this, nevertheless you should do in between oil services yourself and always replace the filter, this needs to be explicitly mentioned too many times.
