Super confused what model/trim I have?
Hello all,
I recently acquired a 2011 M3 Competition Package. However, I'm a little concerned with what trims I have, what is stock on the car, and what (if any) mods have been done by the previous owner? Photos of car found here: View post on imgur.com I noticed that my car has the following things: - M performance exhaust - CF roof, front fangs/lip/splitter, and ducktail - Black competition package wheels - Black front grill and side markers Are the CF ducktail and fangs stock? Did the competition wheels ever come black (mine seem like they're peeling, so I'm not sure if it was plasti-dip'd)? Are the black grill & side markers stock? I remember reading somewhere that a "shadow trim" existed as an option, but I havent seen any other threads or posts confirming that it existed, so i just wanted to make sure exactly what trims I have and what is aftermarket. |

Probably just a competition package. Everything else is an add on, but they could be oem parts. Post close up pics and it should be easier to tell.

Looking at your bigger photos I would have to say the front splitters aren't OEM, you might have plastidip on the wheels since you said they're peeling. The trunk spoiler could be a replica of the OEM one, no real way to tell. My guess is OEM ZCP with some aftermarket carbon. It looks good, we could almost be twins!

Yours very similar to my '11 AW over fox red. Mine has carbon boot lid spoiler, carbon whiskers, MPE exhaust, and matte black wheels. I believe black wheels were an option. Shadow line definitely an option, S760A High Gloss Shadow Line is on my VIN detail. I don't have the window sticker so can't confirm beyond that.

The shadow trim you are referring too is the plastic that surrounds the windows, can either be chrome, or shadow (Gloss Black) iirc. Looks like Comp package with carbon roof and everything else is aftermarket. BMW does have OEM carbon splitters and spoiler identical to your but aftermarket cheap remakes exist of those parts.

I've looked up the VIN a few times in the past I guess my main concern was what was aftermarket. For some reason I always thought ZCP came with the M-Perf exhaust, and whatever video I watched about a "shadow trim" had me believe that the CF parts and blacked out wheels, grill, and side markers were part of that. Here's the results for those curious:
https://www.mdecoder.com/decode/e367632 And as for the wheels being plasti-dip'd, I checked it again and I think I just confused peeling for some curb rash. They look glossed to me, and the entire wheel (including the inner barrel) is black so I'm super confused. Here's a picture my gf snapped for me since I'm away from the car for this summer. I think the M Performance Exhaust was only standard on Lime Rock Park editions.

This is what u should see if you have a dct. It's listed as a manual at the top and dct is listed as an option.

Doppelkupplungsgetriebe literally translates to "dual clutch transmission". Remember that these VIN decoders are insanely verbose and list lots of weird stuff. I've never experienced errors with it though it has quirks like showing DCT as a "manual" and then listing the DCT as an option. Technically this makes sense because it isn't an automatic transmission and is closer to a manual. :-) Competition Package shows up on there as S7MAA or 7MA, if you're wondering. The "ZCP" nickname everyone uses is actually the option code from the ordering process in the US. It's explained here: https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...3#post19205343

Neither were “factory options” IIRC, but could have been dealer installed. Or simply purchased later. Either way, they’re BMW parts. The wheels are either original ZCP 359Ms coated/painted (likely) or OE GTS wheels sourced later, hard to tell from here.

I usually hate BMW polished wheels but the dude who had my M3 before me painted the 220s a shitty matte black and it still pains me to ponder how well the alloy underneath has held up...cuz I would love to strip the paint off!
