Creative gift ideas for an M3 owner
Hi all, I am coming to you for help with a gift idea that I have for my boss's retirement. He owns a M3 (I'm sorry I don't know what year, but I am pretty sure it is a 2010 model.) He spends a lot of time on the weekends working on/driving his car and thought the gift should be something either for the car or for his garage. I'd either like input on my idea or to hear any cool ideas that you might have!
Here's my idea: I found a really cool "in case of emergency, break glass" novelty item that is small enough to use a socket as the item you'd break the glass to get, and thought it would be fun to put a socket inside, going along with the joke that you always lose your most important size socket. Might be a cool thing to keep on his workbench. SO what size socket should I put in the box? (I was thinking whatever size is used during an oil change would be the most commonly used/lost.) Do you have an idea for a fun gift? Thank you for reading, looking forward to seeing your replies. Last edited by 6crs; 09-03-2019 at 12:06 PM.. |

Print him out a “certificate” that reserves him two parking spots so he can park diagonally. Anywhere, anytime

I've framed a few photos of my dads corvettes for him. Try to see if he has any cool photos and could get one framed for his garage.
The socket idea sounds like a nice gag type gift. I'm sure it would be a nice laugh. |

As you may have noticed M3 people are special when it comes to their car. You may even say obsessed, with the "///M"... and the "3"...to the extend that anything with the M colours or better yet M3 badge is viewed superior, just because of that badge.
There are wallets, clothes, phone holders etc etc quite often with decent quality which I'm confident will make your boss happy. Google around, I bet you get some nice ideas. Good luck! Ps. Nah, not one of them. |

I wouldn't take my suggestion for the primary gift, but would be a good add on that will definitely show you did your research. Only M car owners know the annoyance of these stickers falling off over time. I would be very impressed if a non-M owner bought me these as a gift. Just make sure he has BMW wheels. To confirm just walk by and glance to confirm these stickers (or a little spot for them) is there. If you have time to look closely, confirm stickers are on each wheel. If any are missing then your gift would be even better.

///M Wallets are pretty cool at the stealerships. Also if he likes cars maybe get him tickets to a race. Laguna Seca is coming up next weekend. General admission with pit area is real fun.

This is probably too "small" of a gift, but the M keychain is like $35 from IND. There are other simple things there also.

If he’s into his car, he may be particular about things for it (I wouldn’t want my wife surprising me with a mod, though I’d love the thought). She gets me mugs and other dealership accessories which are a cant-miss.

ask him if he has a power ratchet. if he doesn't- thats the perfect gift for a garage guy. it will quickly become his favorite tool since it saves so much time.

Lots of good ideas in here, friends. I love this community sometimes!
///M drivers are hard to shop for. He's your boss and probably makes more $$ so focus on the mentality that "it's the thought that counts". I personally don't like a bunch of M logo stuff but something subtle could be nice. Let him know you did your research and I'm sure it will feel genuine. |

If his car has Comfort Access and he does not already have one, this key holder is a nice but understated option. Only $20 as well.

If the seller has any more available, consider this M flag:

Get him some M gear. Nice collared shirts and T-shirts are cool. Car cleaning stuff is appreciated. Things like microfiber cloths and wheel and glass cleaner, etc. Also, a model car that is similar in color and model is cool too.
