How long do you let your F8X sit?
I don't daily drive my f80. I picked it up just as a fun car and I also mostly work from home so, really no need to drive much. When I drive the car I don't mind putting however many miles I want. I do love driving this car!
My car sits on the battery tender 24-7 and gets plugged in after each drive.

My M4 sits for weeks, especially in the winter since I don't switch tires. So I would probably drive it once or twice a month in the colder months.
Then for the rest for the year, probably once or twice a week, usually on the weekends. After 2 or 3 weeks I look for any excuse to take it out due to the itch. Living in NYC I don't really need to drive it other than doing a day trip or something on the weekends, or a dinner on the weekdays. Also it's a lease so the maintenance aspect doesn't bother me. |

Mine sits for months. I keep the tires off the garage floor and the battery tender on at all times. It has 3500 miles on it and it gets driven...not for long drives but typically daily in the summer when the weather is nice. Don't worry about stuff drying up as long as you take proper care which I'm sure you do(letting it run here and there). This isn't my first time owning a vehicle that I hardly drive. I've never had issues with vehicles sitting in a storage state if you take the proper care.

~3 weeks is the longest mine has sat. When you say you start it to keep fluids moving, are you just starting and idling a bit? Thats going to help keep oil fresh on engine surfaces, but its going to do some harm regarding moisture buildup. You could be introducing water vapor in the oil/crank case and especially exhaust that doesnt cook off if things dont get to operating temp. And no one will recommend just idling long enough to get to operating temp.

It's not my daily driver, but I won't let it sit for more than a week. I try to take it to work once or twice a week if I can. If for some reason I can't (valet parking only, tight parking etc) I at least take it for a drive one weeknight a week to run an errand. So long as the engine and tires get up to operating temp. One or two weekends a month it gets either a track day or autocross. No snow here so it doesn't have to sit long.

For those of you who work from home and only drive the car a few times a week at the most...does that mean the majority of the time you never leave your house?

But, of course it was way easier to go for drives before I got married and had children. |

Usually once a day, quite often my cars get switched out at lunch. So I can check the mail and get the fuck out of the office and maybe have a beer.
