Tire question
I have a 2016 M4 convertible competition package with 12 mm spacers all around. I need new tires on the rear’s and I was wondering if I can go with Michelin pilot sport 4S in 295/30/20 without any issues? Also when I replace the fronts can I bump those up from 265 to 275 without any problems? Thanks!
And I just realized that probably someone’s going to tell me I should ask this in the tire section but I’m sure you’re all knowledgeable and gracious enough to answer. |

Sometimes wearing a tighter shoe does not give you more grip while running, same concept applies. You'll get around 12% increases surface area at the expense of a tighter fit which can cause shear forces on the surface contact with the road.

Did you know that there's a whole other sub-forum where tires and wheels are the only topics? You might want to try searching there first, because in the last 5 years, someone else has probably asked the same question (and it was answered).

I'm planning on running 255/35/19 up front and 295/30/19 on my stock wheels soon. No spacers & stock suspension. Was trying to get 265 but my shop didn't have them, but I should be fine as my wheels come with 255 out the factory anyway. |

I am running PS4S in my M3 2016 competition. Stock suspension. No spacers
275 fronts and 295 rear. I am not rubbing the fenders at the front but with your spacers, I think might rub at full lock turn. Hydroplaning may be a problem, but I am not sure how much worse compared to stock 265 in front. I try and drive carefully in the rain. I think the rear is also as susceptible to hydroplane as the front anyway. I chose a wider tire because it fills the wheel well much better, and the tyre is thicker and hence a little more comfortable ride. |
