25.8 MPG at 62 MPH....Amazing!!

During a recent road trip I was able to get 25.8 mpg during the start of one of the legs of my journey. I had the cruise control set on 62 mph which is 100 km/h in a 80 km/h zone for about 90% of the trip. There were 5 small towns along the route where I had to slow to 30 mph or so. The average mpg was still increasing when I stopped the trip computer so I could take the pic (and because I was about to enter the city). Air temp was about 60 F, A/C was off, and there was no wind. Terrain was undulating small hills, in eastern Ontario.

EDIT: The pic of the Idrive for that part of the journey.

Please try that again sometime, but compute it the good old fashion way (miles traveled / gallons used), just to double check the trip computer

I usually do as well, except I was in Ontario where radar detectors are illegal, and my V1 is detectable by the detector detectors that the OPP uses (ask me how I know). That's why I set my cruise on 20k over the limit knowing that I was really going 18 or 19 over because the M3 speedo reads high. The OPP usually gives a 20km/h buffer on the two lane roads.

I've checked mine a few times and it seems to be acurate within 1 mpg or less.

Great news, just as we all figured - very respectable mileage when driven Granny style. No way I will ever do that here in So Cal. Way to fun to get to red line as well.

Nice!

Its nice to see that our engines can be fuel economical if we choose to be lol.

But driving that slow is the hard part.

I've driven that road many times. It's very well patrolled and no detectors are allowed. Therefore that's the fastest I wanted to risk on that road.

There are enough threads about it here, it must be important to some. I don't care about it so much that it effects the way I drive, however I do reset the mpg computer every refill, and the trip computer every trip.

I'm a numbers guy, so I found it interesting.

A Prius wouldn't be much fun at Watkins Glen (which is where I was all weekend).

That was the interesting part of it to me.

Sort of, it drops 400 feet over the 37 miles, I doubt it effects the mileage much.

Do the Canadian cars do mpg in US gallons or Imperial gallons? 3.78 or 4.53 liters?? The Euro cars use imperial gallons when switched to mpg mode (vs liter/100km). Since Canada used to use imperial gallons it wouldn't surprise me if it was imperial gallons.

No wind at all...it was quite calm that day.

I have DCT, so that may help vs 6MT.
