edc module removal - cant find it for the life of me.

Hey guys, looking for the EDC module to remove it due to suspension change. For the life of me I can not find it in my 2013 e92 M3. They say its passenger side panel behind the rear seat. But I cant seem to locate it. Maybe Im getting blind in my old age. Any help would be greatly helpful.

Thank you,

Thank you,

I'm just asking to learn; why do you need to remove the EDC after changing your suspension?

First it was behind the padding above the battery... thank you mapster37

NiDrive, I had installed a KW Club Sport non EDC suspension kit on my car. This will give you a fault saying EDC is failed go see a dealer. I had coded it out, but the EDC module will continue to trip the message unless you unplug the blue connector from the module.

So now, my car does not give me an error for not having an EDC suspension and I did not have to buy a emulator for a few hundred bucks to get rid of the code.

Simply unplug the blue connector from the DCE and code module out. Connector housing is removed in this photo, that's not necessary unless you're installing the Macht Schnell EDC Emulator.

Before I brake the connector, does anyone know the secret handshake for unclipping the plug?

That black collar slides towards the front of the car.

Does the car still show a fault code when you scan it after the connector is removed and coded out edc?

After coding out EDC, can this module be completely removed? (Blue AND white plug disconnected)

Mine does. Not sure if I did it right, but it only shows up on the scan tool

If you coded it out properly it would not show in the device list. I suppose it’s debatable but to “code out” means the car doesn’t know it’s there anymore. Even if you physically remove it the VO will reflect it until all references to the option are gone.

I removed both cables from the EDC module, removed $223 from VO (the DIY on this forum says $233 but there was no $233), in KOMBI set EDCK_ALIVE_ZAEHLER to nicht_aktiv and EDCK_ID_MONITOR to nicht_aktiv, and in CIC set EDC_CIC to nicht_aktiv.

Not sure what I'm missing to get rid of the code, but it's not a big deal.

After you removed the VO code did you re-write NFRM & Kombi? If not you removed it from values but it would still be in the VO. So if you read the car again does the VO no longer contain that option?

hmm, I edited the VO and did process ECU / CAS and then change job and FA_write. I'll have to check whether I did it for the NFRM

So as I recall and it’s been a while, there are 2 modules that hold the VO as a config. If you remove the particular VO’s and change values it will hold your values but not “remove the values from the config” so to say. I recall I had to remove the values and then write them immediately to my NFRM and either CAS or Kombi, that’s where I get foggy. Both holders of that VO list have to be written to for the VO to be gone. But 100% you have to write those changes. Then if you query the car those VO’s will be gone as well as some of the linking features to other modules. This usually removes most of the coding changes you would be making in INPA or whatever you are using. Then if you query the module list again EDC module should be gone. My picture shows original VO on left (pre Combox) and change VO on right (w/Combox). I had to remove some VO (forget), add 644 and add 6VC in this case. After doing the aforementioned I never see the old VO’s nor the modules.

Is it only the blue connector that needs to be removed or does the white connector need to be removed as well for coding out the EDC... because I see some post mentioning to remove the white one as well.
