Opinions on this matter are varied.
With that said lets look at some facts. Regardless of how efficient the S55 PCV system is, if it isn’t 100% (which it isn’t), vaporized oil from the crankcase will make its way into the intake. In GDI engines, just because of the nature of fuel injector placement, deposits will undoubtedly collect on intake valves. It’s not a matter of will it happen - but when and how much. If you plan on running more boost/tuning consider intake deposit collection in the category of death and taxes - all but a certainty. The OCC is a low barrier, low cost/benefit modification that provides a proven method of mitigating the downside of GDI engines (to a degree: see death and taxes). At the end of the day it’s your car. Only you know how long you want to keep it, and what kind of mods/tunes you will be running. These will all factor into the calculus of your decision. |

I ordered the turner occ. They are backordered or something. Should arrive by september. I think. Need to check the email from them.
I put the car through its paces and if it catches oil vapor and prevents from getting into the motor which can lower octane rating. Then so be it. I also don't think it will catch too much water. But, I will certainly report back with my findings.
